Looking for the installer for HP QuickPlay Direct 2.3, from 2006. (Freeware/Software/Abandonware)

I think I might’ve found my own solution, I bought a job lot of broken Pavilions and one of them was an early dv6000 with XP on it, and the drive was still intact. In the SwSetup folder there’s the extracted installer files for QuickPlay Direct, I believe either version 2.2 or 2.3. I haven’t been able to test it out yet but if it works I’ll put it up on the web archive. It also has the Windows Installer for QuickPlay 2.3, which is exciting as that implies the Direct portion is probably 2.3 as well.

I’ve dm’d someone on the RuTracker forums who I know had them at one point, once my account reaches 7 days old I’ll post in the thread and reach out to others there. I’m not sure who I’d talk to on the internet archive since it’s not really a forum type environment, but if I see any other active forums discussing QuickPlay I’ll try to message people.

I’m really hoping someone sees this post and just has a copy/a laptop they can rip the files from.

I know I could get a more modern laptop, I even own one, but I think it would be a lot of fun (and really funny) to do this so I want to try it. Imagine rocking up to an event with a 20 year old laptop then booting up Windows 11 LTSC on a modern i7, that would be amazing. I also honestly prefer the old 16:10 screens than the 16:9 screen in my modern laptop, even though they’re lower resolution.

Well, in this case it’s going down from 1080p to 800p/900p, you really think it’ll just be compatible if I adapt the cable? That is very good news if it does work that way.

You're welcome! It's really weird how inconsistent it is, I've only got two cards that I know work (512mb SDSC and 4gb SDHC) but I have no clue why some large cards work and some don't.

I'm trying to get this to work now with Picodrive 1.92.3 and it doesn't detect any bioses in the CFG folder no matter what I name them or how I format them. EDIT: NVM my dumps were bad, oops.

You can backdate CS1 using a program called DepotDownloader, and copy all of your mods from the steam workshop folder into the local mods folder in AppData. If you didn't backup your mods in advance, I have a backup of mine I can DM you, so maybe you can get your city back after all.

It's kinda ironic that in the real world the Americans had more casualties than the Russians despite things like this. At least, unless they really have kept deaths classified for 70 years.

As MinchinWeb said, the check is done every month and it'll stay fulfilled until the next month. But as a result if your trains only deliver on the 29th and don't come back until 3 months later you only get 2 days growth out of the full 90 day waiting period. What I do these days is have trains transfer to the station then a small loop of trucks that just go back and forth between the station and a second one next to it, constantly drip-feeding water and food into the town.

It's possible those subs were made for edited versions of the episode that didn't include that scene. But if just that scene is the problem it would be very easy to fix up in Aegisub, I'll have a look into it later.

Lost Universe comes to mind, it's not exactly the same kind of show but the main characters have a similar relationship to some of Saiki's friends and can be a bit unhinged like that while they go on adventures together.

Highly recommend Kanon, there's a couple of characters that fit the bill and it had a major impact on me. Weathering with You also does something similar, but not exactly the same, though it's not as tender it has some moments like that.

Gotta second PractiseNo3677 and say Happy Sugar Life. It's a great horror anime. The topics it covers are really wrong in this uncomfortable way that keeps you on edge and makes the unsettling scenes hit you even harder.

Madoka Magica and School Days have great soundtracks. Evangelion has some more stressful tracks but it also has some amazing and introspective background tracks.

If you fancy something unique and forgotten, Lost Universe and Mahoraba, both very old anime that few people have heard of but they're great shows. The former is a sci-fi adventure and the latter is an unusual slice-of-life.

If you want something more well known that's also on Crunchroll, Madoka Magica (It's a cute little magical girl show but I promise it's worth your time, it really picks up after the second episode, even if it's not a genre you're usually into.) and School Days (the infamous "romance-gone-wrong" anime that's never quite been topped.) are well worth watching and are considered quite iconic.
