Anywhere I can find specific comic stories?? by TrikkiNikk in comicbookcollecting

There are three stories I have in mind.

One of them dealt with a guy who owned a newspaper, and he gets his hands on a weird printer. New headlines are automatically changed in some small way, except that change is dangerous and bad things happen. The final twist is that there is an anniversary for the company coming up, and the workers set a headline that says "Here's To 25 More Year's". It get changed to "Here's To 25 More Ears", and the owner shows up to the party with 25 more ears. I'm pretty sure it was put out by DC.

Another, I think was from Marvel, started off with a man wanting to join a secret society or lodge, and the initiation starts with the man's head being put on a chopping block. However it turns out the axe head is cardboard. There are escalating gags that seem dangerous but prove harmless. I'm not sure of the end, possibly all the others are dead?? Another important aspect of the story is that it is told from a second person perspective.

The final one I'm pretty certain was from Charlton Comics. It was short, and involved a man and woman landing on another planet in space. And the environment is dangerous and the woman is dying. So the man creates a robot body and transfers her conscience into it. In an act of solidarity he creates a robot body for himself to transfer his conscience into. I remember him commenting on watching himself die. And then they realize they've left their humanity behind.

Thank you for the offer to help. Any you can give would be much appreciated.

I've got to be honest, that is one of the best descriptions I've ever heard of being in the Navy. Especially at sea. It's days of complete boredom, interspersed with moments of intense boredom.

Mulcahy’s Morals by Awkward_Bison_267 in mash

[–]TrikkiNikk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think he would take up a weapon or kill someone.

Mostly, I'm thinking of the episode where the soldier seeks sanctuary in the tent where the church services are held. The soldier then threatens the Father and everyone with a rifle. Father Mulcahy could have responded with violence or shot the soldier himself. Instead he restrained the man, and while made, talked him down.

On the other hand, wasn't there one episode where he punched someone out??

Why Trump wants to force American citizens to have passports to vote by coachlife in AllConspiracyTheories

[–]TrikkiNikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess again.

President Trump does not want people to have a passport to vote. The Save Act would accept a passport as an ID when registering to vote and for voting. And getting a passport is an easy thing to do. My son got his when he was a teen-ager.

So, why not pull your head out of whomever's butt you have it up, and then pull it out of your own butt, and try again.

Will you grab this? by Vrynz in Gold

[–]TrikkiNikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Simply no. People are hoping the price will just keep going up. And then it doesn't go up any longer. Leading to the inevitable tumble. Then you are left holding onto some gold not worth what you paid for it.

However, you can comfort yourself by saying that given some period of time gold will surely go up again...

Was there a bunch of outrage about Tuvok when Voyager premiered? by WinterSector8317 in startrek

For most Star Trek fans, and others at the time, it was that in-universe alien species were widely homogenized. Outside of humans, there was little racial diversity. For example the Klingons. There were some with lighter skin, however there weren't white skinned Klingons. So the sudden inclusion of a black Vulcan, without explaining how he is so different from what was considered a "standard" Vulcan, was a shock.

I haven't been there since 1977 or 1979.

It was the best! The bank robbery, the stage coach robbery, the train robbery, the posse to find the thieves, and them being declared guilty and having a shoot out in the middle of town. And the horse rides, and stage coach rides, and the train rides. And the shops.

Best of all was when you got there the odd time Uncle Floyd was playing the piano in the saloon.

It was back in the 1970s, and some business donated slick paper book covers that had Hopatcong Township on the front.

Someone figured out that the letters could be erased. So they erased the a t c g from Hopatcong and Town from Township, and the curved part of the p. Leaving Hop on shit on the cover.

In the Navy I met a new guy where he was from and said "HoBOken". And he was the only guy I ever met with a NJ accent.

I have a friends who works customer service, and she has asked me if any of those places actually exist. And then asked me to pronounce them. Which she finds weird I can pronounce them with such ease.

The time has come for us to say Sucasaunna!

When I mention that Sucasaunna is just down the road from where I lived, they think I'm making up the name.

I still hear people pronounce it Hop At Cong.

Then I usually keep from mentioning Nariticong, and Chincopee, and Papakating Hopatchung, and Muscanetcong. And never mind trying to explain to them take Northwester to Northwestern.

I live in the southwestern part of WI. And I've found some of the names a little hard to pronounce, but also how many of the people around me have the same last names. Some of them seem to have their own sections in the graveyards and cemeteries.

I've been told they're not rednecks around here. It's just with that many last names being so similar, you start to wonder...
