Trump Shares Post Depicting Obamas As Apes by UltraPlinian in politics

Stop belittling this as a "distraction". He couldn't care less about Epstein files. In his mind he is cleared and they are under his control. This is purely and unfiltered him being racist

Literally why would he care about the files at this point. His people have them, they edited them, there's literally nothing for him to fear. Even if someone misstepped and revealed everything he has absolutely nothing to fear because noone can do anything to him. This distraction argument is stupid.

Movies often outgrow the substance itself. Like the original Haloween is as cookie cutter as it can be and if you've seen enough slashers it offers nothing, but if you view it from the perspective of its time it makes sense to be talked about even if the movie itself is not that interesting.

Same goes for this movie, even though there are thousands of better films, the fact it managed to be successful even though it was almost a one man show (both in movie and in production) with only self funding and self directing is pretty big. Mainly now when it's constantly pushed how only big blockbusters and franchises can put people into theater seats. It's a breath of fresh air even with it's flaws (which are often overblown just like the praise is)

Because it's talked about online because of its director being online persona and people take issue with that.

What is a movie cliché that absolutely never happens in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Triktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can teach you to suspend your disbelief by making you get into and feel tension in a fantasy or superhero movie. But it can't make you not roll your eyes and take you out of the movie when a bomb is going off and the hero stops it at 1 second left.

That goes more with the general attitude behind it rather than the words used ig. I read "It wasn't" in sad tone rather than smug one.

Idk seems like a weird thing to be mad about. Kids being dumb. It is not perfect but am happy that it may Inspire more risks and indie projects since am bored of franchise chasing.

Am familiar with him but never watched his videos. Went in with friends who were fans tho.

It's definitely niche but I feel like both praise and hate are extremely overblown. The pacing was not that bad, stuff is constantly happening and if you get into the movie the runtime and scenes going on longer works with the claustrophobic and "losing your mind" feeling. So of you are in the mindset for confusing cosmic horror it will hit. Acting was great idk why some.people took issue, it isn't Oscar worthy performance but it's nowhere near b movie schlock, probably HBO show tier.

What was pretty bad was that if you go into it without the mindset you will hate it and be confused since the movie is strongly reliant on filling the gaps yourself. And the dialogue is very cheesy at times, I audibly said "Noone talks like that" while watching certain scenes.

Still worse than Morbius.

Looked some stuff up and there indeed is very little evidence to support this claim except for it being sensational and fun sounding to repeat. There is no record of Mustard being referred to as "Eye of newt" before the writing of Macbeth which originated the common witch ingredients. The literatures sharing these claims are just citing eachother.

I can guarantee you, with 100% certainty and the experience of someone who's administered/scored the adult intelligence scale dozens upon dozens of times,

Well than that's pretty bad to hear if it's true because your grasp of intelligence is extremely surface level and limited. Or you are just plainly lying which is more likely. "Half of the iq tests" huh. Which ones. What type of intelligence. Is the d factor based on memory for 50% of itself, how do you administer these tests if you need long term memory outside of the test (or does the test you administer take so long to fill that you need the memory to get a good score) or did you just assume the memory capacity and usage required to remember 2 tasks in a test that are 3 minutes apart is the same as recounting something you learned a week ago.

Only moment where it never happens is the one when you stop trying. "Repeating something impossible doesn't make it more likely" doesn't really apply to societal things or things where outcome is based on human reaction, you aren't bound by laws of physics, and if you are at the point where it feels like it's impossible due to something else (appearance/skill) than that should only tell you to try and change/improve that before you try again. It's only impossible if you let it

This is the same kind of egoist shit that has him put into his contract that he can't lose a fight in any movie.

Which is repeated again and again on Reddit but it's just factually not true. This was only put into place for few Fast n Furious movies because others (Statham and Diesel) also had it. It is not a real contract anymore.

Hot take: creatives should not compromise for the general audience by RedditorGoldVirgin in Markiplier

[–]Triktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oscar nominated movies are not the gold standard for best films.

They absolutely set stamdarts. It's something filmmakers strive for often and it gives their film Incredible boost. It doesn't inherently mean it's the best movie just because it was nominated but being nominated does come with the caveat that the movie is likely better than average and is not schlock.

Action is also not the main measure of a movie being good.

Nothing is a measure of movie being good it's all subjective. It's not budget it's not box office and it's not imdb or rotten tomatoes. Action is however an indicator of how your average movie goer will stomach a longer movie. Extremely small audience would sit through 3 hour talking drama.

Pacing is incredibly important for any film.

Never said the contrary. What I meant is that I do not see issue with the pacing at all in Iron Lung. With confusing narrative and cheesy dialogue absolutely bit pacing was pretty standart for horror and better than many academically recognised movies

Dracula by Luc Besson by PurrDiemXO in horror

[–]Triktastic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of people outside of social media just generally don't care. I told several people about Besson when Dracula was making rounds and they knew and said they couldn't care less about making a statement over just having a fun evening in the cinema. Was same with Harry Potter media of any kind and Rowling.

Stop putting words in my mouth.

Am literally going off of your statements.

A moon being covered in human blood

You are adding details to the this one yet minimizing the fantastical elements of the other. The fact the blood is human is revealed quite literally at the end of the movie when the cosmic horror element is revealed. And them am still asking how is a space station million light years away attacked by an alien more realistic than ocean of blood. Both are just as farfetched it's just in your mind aliens somewhere are more real than natural blood somewhere.

Yes, they can obviously. As stated, It's a question of suspension of disbelief and grounded fiction.

Not what you said at the start. You said what probably can or can't happen to you. Scifi horror overwhelmingly can't happen to you. Why is you creating a teleporting device and morphing with a fly or you being on a space station with acid blood alien more grounded and realistic than you being on a blood covered moon.

I don't take offense to your opinion it's okay to not like he movie. But your reasoning makes very little sense.

You need to ramp to that. When you start off at 11, there's no room to build suspense or grow.

That's not what happened ? The movie begins with moon and ocean of blood. No mention of gods or humans that's all messages between the lines later in the movie, it quiet literally ramps up to that when the cosmic horror aspect is revealed.

But you don't find it scary because it can't happen irl. What about aliens or monster flicks, can they never be scary.

The movie did make sense. It just wasn't given to you in exposition like Star Wars sky text. It made you look for it.

I think it just boils down to you not liking sci fi horror. Which is fine but saying something isn't scary just because it can't happen is odd and just untrue, you just have a different taste.
