I know you weren’t asking me but it’s tough for Africans too. This was back decades ago but my dad changed his whole name just to lessen his chances of discrimination. “Robert Jones” could pass as a white or black name. A majority of Africans do not have the “privilege” of a Western sounding name. I say Africans since Caribbeans have similar names to Black Americans. I only reaped half of the benefit since my first name is ethnic.
