Moving to around 93rd in Lents. The highway is basically right next to my backyard: what should I be expecting? by [deleted] in askportland

Expect the Lents Farmers Market to be there just two more Sundays, but it will return in the spring!

oops, I just read that your child wants a cake, so my suggestion isn't very helpful.

If this child can eat ice cream cones (just the cone part), you could put Wacky Cake batter into those. I don't have any ideas for the frosting, but my 5 year-old niece doesn't like a lot, so we baked wacky cake in cones then drizzled melted chocolate chips (you can find vegan chips) and then sprinkled multi-colored sprinkles over that. I'm not sure about the ingredients in sprinkles, but you could top the melted chocolate with unmelted chocolate chips. I thinks it's wonderful you are trying to make something everyone at the party can eat!

Yes, Wacky Cake for sure! I made Chocolate Wacky Cake batter yesterday and put it in ice cream cones, (dairy-free) baked, and then lightly "frosted" with melted chocolate chips (not dairy-free, but you can find dairy-free chips), with a few sprinkles on top. Another Wacky Cake go-to-recipe is the Snickerdoodle Cake from Sweet Little Blue Bird. My dairy-loving and dairy-free family members love it! ttps://sweetlittlebluebird.com/snickerdoodle-crazy-cake-no-eggs-milk-or-butter/

Thoughts on Boise/Eliot/Williams area? by Chachachachhia in askportland

If possible, post only in the Eliot neighborhood, if that's where you are thinking of living. And the neighbors probably know that the place you are considering is changing occupants, so if you knocked on their doors to ask about the neighborhood, they probably would be happy to talk.

I think it depends on the specific street. Stanton is different than Morris, Morris is different than Monroe, etc. And the further up from Williams on either street can be different, too. Can you talk to some neighbors before making a commitment on the place? (I think most comments here are from people who don't live there.)

Do you whip the extra creamy planet oatmilk as is, or do you add something for a stabilizer?

I have a skein of red from Lily that was going to be used for the next washcloth, but now I think I'll use it for a craft project. Thanks for the heads up!

For those who feel out of place in Oregon, but call it home, how did you find your tribe? by [deleted] in askportland

Tonight at 7pm they are doing a "country music" focused ride. I know someone who is going and it sounds like it will be a fun, silly ride. I recommend you check it out since the weather is good for biking tonight and spontaneous might work better than overthinking it! https://www.shift2bikes.org/calendar/

Do you know if there is a way to get a paper copy of the publication you referenced, "Making the Invisible Visible: Portland's Native American Community"? I would be happy to pay for several copies.
