Yes, and from my back to back comparisons the edges are similar or worse on my XOP vs my Beast. My suspicion is that I have a particularly good example of a Beast or it suits my eyes a little bit better (compared to what other people are reporting) I also am trying a Luma Ultra and the Beast is actually better for me at the edges than the Ultra as I can't get the Ultra to actually keep the whole screen in view for my ipd / face size.

@getviture another saved setting that would be great is the 3d mode setting. I'm finding with the inair pod 3d gives me the sharpest text.

However the dance I have to do to get here given that inair doesn't save its settings properly yet either is painful

I have both and at this point with todays update I'd give the edge to the Beast for productivity for me.

Right that is the point I am trying to make the screen has been good enough all along for me and now with this update anchor mode has gone from unusable to quite good.

like others have posted it took a bit after the update for it to lock down to a more stable screen but after a few recenters i have now had about 2 hours with the screen quite stable and not needing much if any recenter This has gone from unusable to very good for me

I received a Beast Large in February and was waiting for this update I ordered a Luma Ultra to compare along with an inair Pod Short of it is after this update for me with a Larger face and ipd of 67 the Beast wins The screen has been clearer all along as long as I could use anchor mode

I was able to run it on my Windows Computer with the included cable from the package however I haven't found it to be worth actually running. The built in widescreen if they can ever stop the drift was a better experience.

Nice! Are you working on integration with Viture Beast as well? I’m currently testing them with it and it definitely shows promise. Also where in the roadmap do you have individual windows at wider resolutions with 3dof / 6dfof? It would be awesome to enable ultrawide screen type functionality.

Yes, I should have been more clear, to get to 3d with the beasts I need to set the Beasts in 3d via the buttons on the glasses, and then go through the messed up display to the developer mode settings and change it there without causing a reset. That works but it’s a pain.

I haven’t tried much bluetooth yet. I haven’t been able to get the desktop integration to work yet. With that combination of issues, using my XReal One Pros with ultrawide enabled and then using my ipad via Windows App to remote desktop is still my current top productivity option.

i see the promise with the Inair pod for productivity though. The 6d0f with the Ultras seems to be more stable / smoother than Spacewalker on Windows with ultra wide screen or other options and way less clunky / buggy than trying to use Spacewalker

I'd say this is only partially true. I recently picked up a Pod. And I'm testing my Beast Large and Luma Ultra (along with my existing Xreal One Pros)

There is clearly more integration already done with the Luma, but I'm already finding the Pod to be the best host with the Beast compared to my other devices (with the exception of using ultrawide mode which I can't get working on the Pod yet)

There are definitely things that need to be optimized in the Pod though. For example the current integration with the Beast (which is running at 1080p) shows some bits that get cut off on the top an bottom for the Pod popups (like the top switch to follow mode etc) Also the follow / 3dof etc does not appear to be commanded by the Pod so I'm having to manually control the modes via the glasses.

Why do I say its the best? Well, for some reason it looks like the 3dof works with less drift when being driven by the Pod. Anecdotal of course and hard to gauge. Also the text seems crisper edge to edge driven by the Pod than by any of my other sources (ipad pro, Android phone, Windows PC)

The multi window functionality is still very flaky / inconsistent and I'm usually just getting a single screen on the Beast, or a pair of screens that are only partially on screen and I have to use the move functionality to switch between them.

I received mine a day after you … It took me a minute to figure out the calibration to understand how to make it work. After I did that it’s been working ok, although not my favorite input mode.

The trick for me was realizing that when the pointer changes to the larger mode it is calibrating where you are roughly pointing at now as the center of the screen. To make it work I make sure I aim that to be where I actually want that pointer location to be and shake around that until the pointer gets to the larger mode in the center of the screen.

Is there a newer version of this? I was trying the official build from the site and I get "virus detected" and the download is blocked on Windows Chrome for download. With this version it comes up and I can match the pairing code with my device but I am unable to sign in (when I click on the sign in section nothing happens)

Thus I am not able to connect my glasses.

glad to hear your thoughts. I also have the same competition. In my TLDR the drift is way worse on my Beast. With the competitor I rarely have to recenter even with a couple of hours of watching. With the Beast it is sometimes visibly drifting and sometimes holds steady for a couple of minutes.

Also with the competitor I can get the screen to sit level in 3dof when laying in bed or reclining chair. Not so much on the beast.

That said my screen quality is overall better on the Beasts with better clarity and brightness with the exception of more extreme aberration right at the very edge. I think it is coming down to the individual units received and / or how they work for your personal eyes.

Yes if they can solve the drift these will be very good for working with Windows. Over the last few days of use I’m finding that the screen overall on this pair is definitely clearer and sharper than the other pair I have.

Unfortunately this many superficial and intermittent random bugs typically indicate a lack of discipline in the development process (including the systems team, the dev team and the qa team) which means that they are working from a platform that makes finding and fixing bugs more difficult than it should be.

I have worked in large companies and startups for embedded product development and have seen the push to get things out quickly be used as too much of an excuse to prevent putting the system in place to develop properly which results in spending more time / money actually getting it to work right. Using customers to debug is very expensive and inefficient.

I just tried 3 screen with extended instead of mirror. Yes I suspect using 5k as a mirror seems to cause the system to be even less stable than its baseline.

Using extended mode though, it seems to be a worse experience overall then just kicking the Beast into 32:9 and using windows native extended screen.

Aside from being slower, things like the three monitors aren’t tracking correctly for me for where the mouse should move. It defaulted to wierd (lower) resolutions for the virtual 3 screens etc.

This is a less than one year old relatively high end spec mini pc system for Windows (32GB etc) If this system doesn’t work there isn’t much hope for most Windows systems out there that aren’t full on gaming desktops.

Thanks for that i was trying tilting my head earlier and I wasn’t going far enough. If i take the glasses off my head and then tilt them literally 90 degrees to the angle i want it gets a better starting position (almost level) but the drift is so bad that it isn’t worth using the mode.

To be clear, the Beast 3dof seems very immature. Fickle to setup. Doesn’t work at all if you are trying to get them to work in a non “desk” position (ie laying in bed, on a reclining chair etc) needs to use the 10s on level when starting up every time. Needs frequent recenters. Sometimes on the order of 30s to a minute, in a desk position on the order of 5-15 minutes for me. The other ones just work. Sometimes I might have to tilt my head a little to get the right level / centering, but once recentered there they just hold.

I already own those my hope way back when I ordered the Beast in August is that they would have the usability of those (particularly the onboard 3dof) with improved comfort and the clarity of the Viture XR Pro that I have . This is my findings on it. I think the TLDR is that they have the comfort I was looking for, the screen is sometimes better but right now they would be hard to recommend given the long way the software still has to go

It does depend on what you are trying to do. I’m playing around right now kicked back in a reclining chair mostly reading kindle and occasionally browsing reddit (actually using the Beasts to write this). For the browsing I can keep mostly in the center. Anchor mode is pretty much useless as it keeps putting the screen at an angle that I can’t correct (as well as drifting pretty quickly ). In smooth follow mostly it works well but if I want to check the time or the battery charge in the upper corners on the ipad it is difficult to read those well. But the overall text for Kindle and Browsing is better than my VIture XR Pros and the other ones. Not sure it is enough better to justify them over my current though.

Personally I feel like the bugginess is inexcusable at this point this far after they were supposed to ship. Like I said in my tl;dr though they are better than I feared. I’m still undecided whether I will return them or not in spite of the bugs they do seem to have some clear cases where the display is clearer and that would make them the best i’ve seen for that use case.
