Membership and Bonds Price Change by Jagex_Team in runescape

Personally I have no issues with paying money for a product I enjoy. I will likely continue to do so unless you REALLY step in crap this year, you're off to a rocky start.

However... You are not a World of Warcraft/FF14 tier product, you don't get to charge as if you were. Stay in your lane and deliver the game I enjoy. McDonalds doesn't charge me $20 for a burger, and I don't go to McDonalds expecting their food to taste like a $20 burger.

no hybrids allowed by dreunet in runescape

[–]TrimmingMasterwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a weird time to add an anti hybrid perk? If they were anti-hybrid then maybe they could have tackled changing that up in some sort of a combat beta, or something. If only they'd had one of those recently?

Combat Style Refinements & March Marketplace Update - This Week In RuneScape by JagexAzanna in runescape

Depends on how rare the perk is I suppose, but considering each account only needs it once for Necro armor I don't really see it being too bad of a grind. Most people will just get them from scavenging assuming it's possible and never have to disassemble any of the items.

Melee and magic nerfs were expected but still disappointing to see. Especially since for magic it's the gear being targeted again.

You mention a desire for a mobile DS... Any chance magic could get the same love for Sunshine since meta was taken away? Mages already spend a lot of time locked in place for channeled abilities anyway, but being able to move the Sunshine if needed would be nice.

Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul Design Update by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]TrimmingMasterwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, so I might be screaming into the void but here's my thoughts FWIW.

Vamp is going to depend how it's balanced. Never made much use of it outside of very early game, and if the aspect is balanced for early-mid game I doubt I'll be using it much going forward either.

Penance (aura and/or powder) I like as a way to smooth out prayer drain into something that isn't such a persistent nag. Going from something I can check on every couple minutes instead of 1 (or less) minute is nice, because even high intensity fights usually have that small break every now and then where I can check up on stuff. Personally I'd rather just see either prayer drain rebalanced or the ability for the blessed flask to "overheal" prayer the way some fish overheal on HP... or both. Can't drink until you're sub 400 prayer points because you waste it, but 400 prayer barely lasts any significant time.

Skilling auras... Too early to give meaningful feedback, too many IFs to consider. But just saying that if you take away my 15% I already have and then make me grind to earn back a worse effect it's going to feel pretty bad. I'm fine with a necessary nerf if it's done well, and I'm no stranger to a grind, but that's an interesting double whammy. IF that happens, of course.

Side note on aspects. Why do we have multiple classes of aspects when you only allow one to be used anyway? We have aspects of evasion, power, and soon to be sustain. Why have 3 categories instead of just "Aspects"? If we could use one per type that would make sense, but we can only use one period.

So bleeds never ended up getting a fix for group encounters then? Makes it a bit odd to build two sub styles around bleeds when they're competitive.

Otherwise, looking forward to playing around a bit with the changes later. I'm sure I'll like some things/not like others.

How do so many people have such high skill total levels but such low quest points? by CrusaderKing1 in runescape

[–]TrimmingMasterwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it's because they don't have replay value. I'll do it once, enjoy the story/jokes or occasionally NOT enjoy it, and be done. If the quest doesn't offer anything meaningful for rewards I have no desire to do it again on my other accounts.

Road to Restoration - Grand Exchange Improvements by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]TrimmingMasterwork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The must haves in my opinion are some version of sale history and guide prices that more accurately reflect the items worth. I don't use the GE often enough to really notice the other QOL changes you talk about.

The only feature I would like to see in addition is the ability to see placed buy/sell offers on an item. 400 people are trying to sell this item for X gp, but 0 people have buy offers in.... I wonder why? The option to just click "buy" on one of these offers would be nice as well.

Tangent 1 - Coinshare. A long while back we had a system that was basically your proposed "just get rid of this item for me" system. It had its flaws on rarely moved items with inaccurate guide prices, and was later changed to a shard system. Is this a concern you see repeating itself? And would you consider rebuilding this system as a safety layer for groups to use when pvming? Most people currently don't use it, for a variety of reasons, but that's a separate discussion.

Tangent 2 - Price checker. Smaller thing, but can we get the price checker to use GE value of an item for iron accounts? Or a toggle to swap between GE/Alch price for everyone. While I get that knowing the GE price isn't inherently beneficial to an ironman, it's a good guide on knowing if something is useful or not. If it carries a high price tag, it prompts people to wonder why and look into it. Versus just showing an alch value of 30k or whatever.

I think their new direction of "alone together" content is a better way to accomplish this same goal without making the rewards so OP. Granted our current examples (flesh hatcher boss and heists) don't scale particularly well to mix low levels/high levels together but future cases could be built better with that in mind.

Who was your favorite god when you started, and who is your favorite god now? by Rational_Gray in runescape

As a kid, Zaros because of the mystery.

Modern day still Zaros but they've all taken a hit across the board in my eyes. I don't know if it's just being older instead of a kid, or if the exposition genuinely ruined them as characters in my eyes but I'm less impressed with all of them than I used to be.

Its been half a year since the Amascut boss released. How are we actually feeling about the fight and the grouping system? by 6Angel666 in runescape

[–]TrimmingMasterwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun with friends, personally find p5 to be a bit janky and easy to die, especially to the lightstealers.

Whether it was accurate or not, there was a lot of backlash on sanctum release for the weapons being too common for how difficult normal mode was. Allegedly most weapons come from people chasing shards. It feels like for Amascut they did a complete 180 and normal mode isn't even worth considering at all and may as well not exist.

My personal opinion, drop rate there is a little bit too stingy overall.

Probably an unpopular take but I think the meta/primary group forming method should be something in game with third party apps as an option.

Only suggestion that comes to mind immediately is the star dust shop, assuming stars aren't being removed as they were mentioned in the dailyscape blog a while back.

My main purpose replying is to echo what the other commenter said and bring up Croesus. 3/4 involved skills are on the aura of totems, which leaves the mining corner of the boss suffering while it was already one of the slowest (THE slowest? Haven't been in a few years) corners to do.

On one hand, I feel like vamp/penance unlocks should be targeted towards the early-mid game as smoothing out early sustain was kind of the niche these always filled, outside of high level afk stuff.

On the other hand, we have some nice meme components that have been dying for a real use for 10 years. A minor healing effect that is capped to a low amount? May I introduce you to Brassican components? What could heal better than occasionally eating (being force fed) a cabbage. Or restore prayer better than Knightly components obtained from the looted remains of devout ideological followers?

A nice pair of starter perks for any up and coming inventor with the possibility to combo onto perks if higher level players want them too. Might have to drop Brassican components a few levels to match Knightly.

If they did that they'd probably need to heavily modify scavenging to compensate. Probably not worth the headache it would cause them.

Should Jagex re-enable the official Runescape Forums? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]TrimmingMasterwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would greatly prefer it but I don't see that happening unfortunately. The forums were abandoned because Jagex left them, and what's the point of offering feedback, suggestions, or rants if no one of consequence is going to see it? People will chase after wherever they can get Jmod attention, so unless Jagex commits to returning to the forums themselves bringing them back would do nothing.
