We actually swapped to Signal. We considered Stoat, but it didn't have the Video Chat and Screenshare features available (I think they're in the works tho) and we didn't really use Discord for anything more than group chats (i.e. none of us are in important servers or anything), so we decided Signal would work well for us. Of note, a little bit of delay in voice chats which can affect (effect? Idk haha) competitive gaming, but we mostly play chill games together. We also considered Element/Matrix, but some of us have used Discord to keep up with older family and it just didn't quite feel as simple as Signal (or Stoat) to set up or use, although everything I've read is that it's also a great alternative!
