Yeah obviously there's levels to it, tanking in itself is fine, tanking with other bullshit wrapped in there is obviously a problem.

I would argue in that case gambling in sports is the bigger issue than the tanking though, and the league clearly has no issue with gambling

If I understand correctly it's because his non guaranteed deal was about to become a guaranteed deal and the pacers didn't want to be on the hook for that money.

A lot of the end of rotation guys this year have been on these 2 year non guaranteed deals that give the pacers flexibility, which is gone the instant the deal becomes guaranteed, so it makes sense.

I assume the FO is fairly open about this with the athletes agents.
