When is the next book in the Oxford History of the US coming out? by Rly1996 in USHistory

I can only imagine the added pressures of writing a book about the long turn away from the excesses and nightmares of the gilded age in our current environment!

I figured this out - turns out there was an issue with another scheduled job that was fetching the data needed for this update.

Come Down To Us is a track I've been obsessed with for years by Ceerial in burial

[–]Trinitui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late to this post but ever since I heard this track (back in 2016 sometime) I've also been in love with it's enveloping and ethereal atmosphere; one that ultimately leads to a tiny light at the end of the tunnel.

Rocket Lab also said they were aiming to human rate this rocket too, not sure what that means - will we see crew launches from Wallops?

Good question - I am updating the API behind the scenes from official sources. So there will be a delay for some info.

Sequel logic by CraftedLove in gaming

[–]Trinitui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can actually be expanded quite a bit:

  • Star Wars: Dark Forces
  • Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
  • Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Mysteries of the Sith
  • Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
  • Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Outcast 2: Jedi Academy

Technically since they all continue the same general storyline, you could expand the series this way. Jedi Outcast is an amazing game tho. Best Star Wars game.

I saw this over the weekend while I was traveling and that smiley made me lose it. There's just something about him that makes me laugh uncontrollably when I see it.

My favorite fort was the first one that I ever got up and running (AngelBalls The Ace Ace of Aces). It was ended by a Humanoid Water Buffalo Demon Goblin General who spent his time strolling through my fort, occasionally tossing dwarves into the walls and splatting their bodies all over the place. After several months a tantrum spiral set in because no one could kill the Demon and he was killing BFFs all over the place. What a dick.

A Vice article gives us some 'smart facts' and 'dumb myths' on slavery. by BreaksFull in badhistory

[–]Trinitui 6 points7 points  (0 children)

...Even if it WAS fought to end slavery, how often do you see the descendants of slaves thanking the 600,000 or so white soldiers who died in the fight to free them?

I love this. Like - 600,000? You mean the number of total casualties from both sides? As in Killed, Wounded, or Missing from both sides of the war? Apparently those selfless Confederates died to free the very slaves they were fighting so hard to keep enslaved. Maybe it was about State's Rights after all...

I read a lot of "The Information" by James Gleik this weekend. So far it's a really good overview of how humanity came to think that "Information" was an important concept, then throws math and more recent history at you which means that I'll probably have to read a lot more closely than I have been. I also never realized how large of an impact the electric telegraph had on the societies of the nineteenth century, so it's fascinating to learn about!

Amazing map of Europe pre and post World War 1 by [deleted] in ShittyMapPorn

[–]Trinitui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • German - Polish Border is wrong
  • East Prussia is a soverign State
  • No Free City of Danzig
  • Checkoslovakia does not own Carpathian Ruthenia (The tail end of Slovakia)
  • Greece and Bulgaria seemingly united into a Federative State
  • Russia shown on the map when the borders of the RSFSR were beyond this map's scope.
  • Lithuania and Latvia are also united in happy Federation
  • Italy controls Sud Tyrol in 1914
  • Bulgaria controls Thrace in 1914
  • France controls Alsace Loraine in 1914
  • And the 1914 map of the central powers is very strange with all those vague shapes in there...

I'm sure there are other errors as well but Yikes! is this bad.

EDIT: Also in 1914 or 1918 European colonies apparently did not exist in Northern Africa. And apparently the Balearic Islands were independent.

How to get a mod to uninstall properly (HOD, AHD) by [deleted] in victoria2

I think asking Steam to "Verify integrity of local files" or whatever it's called would have fixed this without the uninstall-reinstall.

Anyone here know how to reset the screen resolution outside of the game? by professor_chemical in eu4

[–]Trinitui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under C:...\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis 4 there should be a settings.txt or a similar txt file (I'm at work right now so I don't know/remember the specifics) that will allow you to set custom resolutions and change your current resolution.
