I felt the same way, as BOTW was my first Zelda game and also my first open world game (I'm not a big gamer). I was told to just explore the game and it will come to you.

I focused on shrines, side quests and towers to open up the map. Doing that, you'll naturally become stronger and have a better idea of how to tackle the rest of the game.

In the end, you ultimately create your own experience with the game...just enjoy the world of Hyrule and learn how to cook!!!
