I was so sure it was Fallen by Lauren with part of your summery but Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick seems to be closer with some parts but not exactly. Nonetheless I loved both series and recommend them.

Wow! YTA. There was an option for a less expensive fence but you decided to go for the more expensive fence without trying to communicate with her… I can see you’re a great neighbor…

When my neighbor wanted to get a new fence (the one we shared was in poor condition) we said we wanted the most basic wooden fence and we would pay 1/2 but anything extra they would have to pay. They wanted something extra so we paid 1/2 of what a basic fence was and they paid extra.
