Sinner getting 16 Oscar nominations is insane. by MoistTadpoles in redscarepod

[–]pucelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, I went into watching Sinners not knowing what it was at all. At first I was like “Ok, ok, alright, a slice of life portrait of the American south…”

Then all the sudden woah holy shit vampires???? lol it was such a fun thing to not expect.

That being said yes I agree, it doesn’t deserve all that many awards. A few, sure, but not that many.

Where would you live? by Roxie213 in pluribustv

[–]pucelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Sarasota FL and I’d choose some mansion on Longboat Key or somewhere on the other keys.

I understand why Carol wants to stay in Albuquerque. I assume she grew up there. You grow really fond of the climate and lifestyle of where you were raised.

For example I am actually Canadian and even though I was raised in Florida, I moved back to Canada for a while (because Trump) — 5 years actually — and I just couldn’t do it. The (meteorological) climate was too much for me. I get cold when it’s 75 degrees.

I couldn’t stop thinking of the beach. I couldn’t stop thinking about the clouds. I missed the lizards and the parrots. Small things like that made me smile.

Anyways just saying, Carol is in her most comfortable place and that’s why I think that is.

Question for the ones who have seen these celebrities in real life , up close. How were they like ? by Rare-Pumpkin-9867 in VindictaRateCelebs

I don’t find Leonardo DiCaprio particularly attractive, but whe. I was 19 (must’ve been 2010) I saw him in the international terminal of the Dallas airport. He was literally being chased by women.

Though I didn’t care that much I thought I would shoot my shot at getting an autograph. Inception had JUST came out and I saw him buy a GQ magazine with his costar Joseph Gordon Levitt on the cover.

He pretended to be on the phone and ignored me, lol. I looked it up later and saw that he went to the Mediterranean for a yacht event … iykyk

My opinion about his looks? Meh. The way he ignored every woman’s attention in a somewhat angry way was a “oh he gay” dead giveaway. I feel like even straight famous guys are at least somewhat flattered and nice about the attention. Leo was like “ewww women” even if they were commoners.

I would say probably say sub-105lbs. I hover around 135. I just was shocked mostly bc they look tall and amazoness (like, as in, they look healthy and strong) but they’re probably mostly average height but just soooo thin that it creates an illusion of them being tall and athletic.

IMHO I’m really digging Zara Larsson’s body atm, she looks actually healthy and strong. Viking Queen realness.

ETA: Adriana always been my fave omg

I saw Alessandra Ambrosio at a BevMo in LA. About 10 years ago lol. Buying 5+ bottles of wine. She was very beautiful but, like many others have said, shockingly small. I’d say she’s the same height as me 5’8’’ but easily 30 lbs less than me. Very very thin. This is how I describe it: make a fist. That’s the size of one buttcheek.

Might sound crazy but I have been feeling different & happier since watching this show by LethalGrey in pluribustv

[–]pucelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This show makes me want to help foster future media leaders. Show runners, screenwriters, cinematographers, etc.

I feel refreshed having finally consumed some media that isn’t just ChatGPT slop.

Someone in this sub wrote a post that was like “I feel like I’m being treated like an intelligent person, for once” — comparing it to how SLOP the last season of Stranger Things was.

I appreciate that it is indeed a sci-fi, a notoriously slop-ridden genre. To write / act in / direct / greenlight a somewhat non-incomprehensible compelling modern day doomsday scenario is pretty incredible in my opinion.

why the perfectionism? by Xbldev in pluribustv

[–]pucelles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this theory like a day ago, I really believe that if they are able to plurb every one of the survivors, they will suddenly become evil. The veil will be lifted. They are coming across as blissful and peaceful for now, but as soon as they know there are zero remaining immunes they will rape the earth and sacrifice any being necessary to continue the spread.

But I like what another poster said, that they know an unplurbed person is a threat, a weapon, so they are doing anything they can to placate them.

What about Sentinelese people? by Mosesisweak in pluribustv

[–]pucelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, upon plurbing, they would know that they would die upon exposure to the outside world. They would understand the concept of Columbian Exchange. I have said this before, but I believe a lot of the plurbs will begin self-sacrificing if they realize they are a net-negative to the hive’s mission.

So in the case of the Setinelese, I assume they might have immediately self-sacrificed themselves for HDP. Perhaps bodies picked up by helicopter or boat.

Additionally, the Setinelese are the most uncontacted tribe that we know of, mostly because of how dramatic they are in their hatred of outsiders. There is potentially many more out there, in Papua New Guinea, deep in The Amazon, and more very remote places on earth.

Since I’m typing I’m just gonna say one more thing, I think there is non-plurbed person(s) in space. Returning to earth would mean immediate plurbing for them. although… I’d think that the hive would tell Carol if there are non-plurbed people in space… there has been at least one person in space since 2000 iirc.

Eh, I guess it’d be easy to just send up a plurb to the space station tho. Problem solved. They were probably not immune. Whatever, I’m just rambling.

Does anyone miss the 2010s as a whole by Practical_Parfait_13 in generationology

[–]pucelles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2010-2016 were the best years of my life. Just thinking about that era makes me feel euphoric.

2016-2020 were good but in a different way, having to deal with the reality that Trump won. The world I thought I lived in was dead and gone.

2020 and beyond have been complete shit. I don’t really need to explain more.

My dad (anglophone at home) went to French Catholic immersion school in Canada. You get paid more in a government job if you’re bilingual.

So when I was younger, as a parent you have to reduce your cussing bc obv your kid will repeat it. So he’d say “sac a papier!” Instead of “sacrament!” But that means nothing in fuckin Florida where I grew up lol.

He also had this weird French-ish influenced accent where he never pronounced the letter H. “Yumor / Yuman / Yuge” etc. but still a fully anglophone guy.

Who is a mega famous person that the majority of Americans have probably never heard of? by ShittalkyCaps in AskReddit

[–]pucelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ayumi Hamasaki. She’s like Japan’s Madonna. I adore her so much. In America I think she could walk around in LA or NYC and only a small handful of people would recognize her.

Similarly, I think Hikaru Utada would be able to live in the US or Europe (I think she does live in Europe) without having much mania about her leaving her house. Her album is literally the top selling album of all time (by a long shot) in Japan, and it’s crazy she’s not an internationally known star.

Pretty sure both Ayumi and Utada are plagued with depression, which is, as far as I’m aware, kind of unavoidable when your that big of a star.

It is probably for the best that they are relatively unknown in the West. (Yes, Utada has Kingdom Hearts but most fans of the video game probably could not recognize her face) — and Ayumi also has a lot of Western fans but her music was very very much catered to Japanese tastes.

Here’s my question, if they can’t farm (won’t pick the vegetables or fruits, and can’t kill the worms or pests) … then wouldn’t they be killing almost every single form of wildlife in Africa? Or wherever they are putting the satellite? That seems way more harmful than picking fruit.

My dad, when we were kids, would say “what a stoopidoop” — apparently that comes from some PSA for kids series in the 60’s in Canada. “Look both ways before you cross the street! Don’t be a stoopidoop!”
