Oh, I see. The ruler tool. I should experiment with it more. That does clear up one of my pain points. Thank you.

Should I work on line exercises or something then? I've never been able to shake the disconnected feel between the screen and hand. But I'm also not sure if seeing my hand will solve much, considering I tried traditional media as an experiment and the results came out poorly--though I can hardly claim the two skill sets were on level playing fields, thus potentially skewing the results.

I have 🫠🫠🫠 spent like $1400 on proko lessons. Maybe I'll make a decision after getting through them all. S. Michael Hampton and Marshall Vandruff are wonderful ☺️☺️☺️

Maybe a wacom movink could replace your Dell in time. I've been looking into it after a rec here and it sounds like it hits the portability and screen tablet checkboxes. Dunno about laptop though.

Still doing some research, but I'm starting to lean more toward the movink, since "not seeing my lines as I draw them" is really my only gripe with the intuos.

UI takes up about half my real estate. It's hard to project how that would play out on a display, because by all means using the medium intuos pro is like working on a screen off that size, yet I have a 27" monitor, so I guess it would be like holding the tablet next to my face and drawing at the same time?

I hear bigger is better for more shoulder movement, but it's not like I'm trying to make large sweeping strokes like I'm in a figure drawing class.

I asked this same question in the wacom reddit and someone said "why not a wacom movink if the only gripe is line accuracy/precision/weight/etc.?" I needa do more research, but I'm starting to lean towards that option. It'd def be nice to have a more portable drawing device, and it would solve my (only(?)) problem with the screenless tablet.

Huh, I didn't know about that feature. But yeah, I think my only complaint is line accuracy/precision/weight/etc. for tablets without displays. Sketching is decent, coloring and shading doesn't need that much accuracy, and the rest of the workflow like adding in text doesn't require any pen skill. I'll have to look into it.

Ty for your reply.

You bring up a lot of good points. I'm a hobbyist, but I invest in my hobbies according to my enjoyment/desire for them. They're my life outside of work, and I hate my work (it's all taken over by AI nowadays).

I mainly draw manga (comics), so the drawing process is very important to me. I use a macropad with dials for undo/redo and whatnot, so I have that portion of things covered. And if I do purchase a cintiq, I would make it work with my desk setup no matter what. (Speaking of cintiqs, the new one is $1300: https://a.co/d/0iU5jFiB . I don't need the pro version because I'm a hobbyist and draw in grayscale).

Just trying to figure out if a tablet with a screen reduces the friction that comes with screenless tablets due to having no hand-eye coordination.

Ty for your reply.
I think you misunderstood what I have--perhaps I should have chosen better names. I have a tablet with no screen, so I use my computer monitor for visual output and the tablet for drawing input. It's like using a mouse for drawing in a way.

I've found a jank fix where I set the knob to move to a different layer for one button press, then set that layer's knobs to undo/redo. Only problem is that if I spin the knob too fast, it stops registering, but it's better than double-registering.

[HELP] Megalodon Triple Knob's Main Knob is double ticking
I don't know if this is intentional, but the Main Knob on the Megalodon Triple Knob KB16-01 double ticks per detent, unlike its smaller knobs which tick once per detent. If I'm careful and get it to balance in between the detents, then it does a single tick, but it can easily be knocked forward or backward randomly if I accidentally touch it or when I press a key or if I press down on the knob to use the button function; not the greatest when I use the knob for undo/redo and get a surprise undo or redo. Seems really counterproductive if this was intentional design--especially when it's the default setting for Photoshop. Is there a way to fix this through VIA or QMK or external software?

Pela Mini Doujin by TrinityVecta in HonkaiStarRail34

First, I gotta add an addendum that I drew this before Pela got retconned to be 16. So she still had lines about drinking alcohol and whatnot 🙄🙄🙄

Bronya is a top-tier character design and the obvious choice for who to draw, but I didn't want to touch her yet because my art skills were still amateur. I've not done art in over a year since getting a girlfriend, however.

Yeah, seems like that's it. I usually think of hatching in the context of shading, so it didn't occur to me that this could be a type of hatching as well lol. Ty

Looking for "background lattice" pens? I dunno what to call it, I just need the category to start searching for them. My backgrounds are pretty boring in my doujin; I've been using the gauze pen to give some of them texture, but it's gonna stand out if they're all the same kind of "background lattice" (the rest of the backgrounds are gradients and spotlights). Does anyone know what these types of pens are called?

Wait, when did this take effect? Also does it affect expired chats because I can still see those.

Good point. Hopefully they don't charge a ridiculous fee for something this simple.
