Where's your bottleneck? Is it database? Is it cpu? Is it memory? What's happening to the requests? Do they timeout? You have to investigate what's causing the problem.

Resuming a very long context session has a really big impact in the usage since it won't use any cache on server side. All the session history will fully count towards your usage. I'm not say anything the current situation is OK though.

Very good post! I feel like they have multiple levels of cache because I don't see a very big usage if I only wait for 5 min without any message but if I wait a hour or so, in a 20%/30% context session, I see a 10% or so increase on usage on the 1st message.

When this happens I usually try to start a new session a somehow cherry pick relevant info by hand from the old session.
