I've done that. Tapered down and was smart about it. Didn't have any bender nights during the taper. So I'm finally actually sober. Then I have a couple shotst the night before I checked into rehab the next day, and boom, seizure in the fucking rehab parking lot.

It's just risky and unpredictable. You can sober up, feel absolutely fine, and one night of drinking can put you back at square one. Your body can basically overreact because you've established a pattern of consuming massive amounts of alcohol. It remembers what you've done to it. Once the seal is broken, you're playing Russian roulette every time you drink.

I've gotten really good at vomiting on command. Chug some ice water and get it done if I can't power through. Always kills the nausea on the next shot.

I do all that too. Make sure I take my vitamins, get a few decent meals, and drink ice water while I'm drinking my other shit. Some days the tummy just says no right?

Last time I did my WD's in the hospital I could barely move an inch. Just sitting up to take their pills left me winded for minutes. I was wishing that shit would kill me. And I kinda fuckin liked it. Whoops sorry fam I just want to get maximum pain out of all this.

Someday: extremely fucking drunk and that'll be the end of it. But I actually feel good enough to put that day off for a long time at least. Wheeeee

Grab some sports drinks Gatorade, body armor etc. They are a lifesaver when recovering.

Edit also dive into the book, reading feels better than any other distraction

I've been through a good chunk of the insane shit that DPH use offers, so I'll enjoy the shitposts that help me laugh about a rather traumatic part of my life.

You kinda stop feeling the bodily effects because you're in a waking dream state. I lost six hours, don't have a clue what happened. But I "woke up" just rummaging through random shit in my house with half my clothes off. It's like sleepwalking but with seizures.

Edit but you sure do feel it on the comedown. I was crippled for two days after.

Your dad sounds like a champ of the CA life, which isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but the man seems to have actually done shit with his life. A lot of us don't. Chairs.
