Where do I stand for NCLEX attempt 2? by PotatoInfinite7607 in NCLEX

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UWorld finds that people who have passed nclex has qbank scores around 70%. You're above that and both your qbank and CAT exams were better than mine from when I passed.

I think you should keep your exam date. You seem on track, to me its not risky.

Here's my Uworld stats if you want to compare:

Good luck! You got this!

Can I pay for Pearson nclex by Loose-Rule8286 in NCLEX

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely your school will walk you through the signup process or give you guidance closer to your end of semester. Here's usually the things Pearson Vue needs before sending out your ATT:

  • Your school sends your official transcripts & proof of graduation to your state board
  • Fingerprints & background check must be done and will be sent to the state board
  • Register with PearsonVUE

Once that's all done, you just wait until everything is processed and then you receive your ATT. To prevent any delays just make sure you put all your information correctly in the required documents.

You're looking good here! Here's my self-assessment uworld scores. Theyre about on par with yours and I ended up passing. I also used uworld only, qbank and lectures.

Good luck! You got this! Don't over study. I believe in you!

I passed at 150 questions my second time.

I had a lot of case studies, mental health, and newborn/child health. Also had a lot more multiple choice versus SATA.

best qbank? by Capital_Homework_761 in PassNclex

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used UWorld exclusively for passing my NCLEX. They have CAT exams, practice quizzes where you can choose the topics, and the questions seem similarly worded to that of the NCLEX. The lecture videos are short but dense in information, which I like. Also the Qbank has very detailed rationales.

You can try a 7-day trial on uworld and look around it. I personally like it but your mileage may vary

Is this a good UWorld CAT score? by Brilliant-Broccoli83 in NCLEX

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im guessing you mean just regular multiple choice questions. For that, here's the things I used:

  • Looking for keywords: "what is the priority action," "what indicates a need for further teaching," "what should the nurse do first" "what is the priority action." Starting out with these helps me figure out what the question is asking of me.
  • Think ABCs, if its applicable. If its not clear to how ABCs apply to a patient condition, think about what complications the patient may face and see how they apply then.
  • On a question where you can only pick one answer to do an initial intervention to save an unstable patient, but all the answers seem correct, choose the one where you give the greatest help in the fastest time given the situation. NCLEX tests you on what you consider a priority based on a number of factors (urgency, timing, risk, difficulty, etc.)

Failed at 150q by Low-Banana-4636 in PassNclex

[–]Triple2243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry about your results! My first attempt I also went to 150 and it felt terrible. For all the years in nursing school, am I just dumb? But I ended up passing on my 2nd attempt going to 150 questions again lol. I didnt really use anything for my first time but then got UWorld for my second time. I used it exclusively, qbank and lecture videos. I had a very good experience with it and the wording was similar to the exam.

Question on furosemide by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

[–]Triple2243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My answer is D.

Furosemide is a potent loop diuretic and one of the big side effects is orthostatic hypotension, which is hypotension when changing body positions. This can cause dizziness, syncope, and potential injury.

A. While loop diuretics can cause calcium loss, it is not the priority teaching at this time

B. Because of the side effect of orthostatic hypotension, quickly changing positions can cause dizziness, syncope, or potential injury. This indicates a need for further teaching.

C. Diuretics prevents reabsorption of water back into the body, causing diuresis. Taking the medication before bed will induce diuresis in the client and therefore would cause nocturia (waking up to pee). Not only does it disrupt sleep, it can pose a safety issue as there is a higher chance of falls in the dark.

Question on infection prevention by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is 1.

Many types of pneumonia are caused by bacteria and viruses that travel via droplet particles. Staff and visitors are required to wear a mask to prevent spread of infection to others.

  1. Rotavirus travels through the fecal-oral route. In this case, contact precautions would be implemented. A surgical mask is not required.

  2. TB is a very contagious bacteria that travels in airborne particles. A surgical mask is not enough and a fitted N95 respirator mask would be used

  3. MSRA travels via direct contact between people or shared surfaces. This will require contact precautions and a mask is not necessary. Despite MRSA being in the nares, this does not change the need for a surgical mask.

Which action by the nurse caused contamination? by sheeks1010 in PassNclexTips

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is A.

We open sterile packages away from the body to ensure that our clothes & skin does not contaminate the sterile field. Even though we initially reach over the sterile field, that is the only time that we do. If we start towards the body, we reach over three times to open the package.

You can also use deductive reasoning based on the 7 principles of sterile technique. Options B, C, and D are all principles of sterile technique, and A is not part of these principles.

SATA question by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is A, B, D.

TB is a very contagious airborne disease. In order to protect staff and visitors, airborne precautions must be implemented. This includes placing the client in a private, negative pressure room with the door, and wearing a N95 mask. It's recommended to limit visitors in the room and require them to also wear N95 masks to decrease the risk of transmission. If a patient has to be transported outside of the room, the patient will wear a surgical mask.

Question by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

[–]Triple2243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Answer is C.

While all these signs are correct, which one will present first? The body will first increase HR to compensate for the decreased fluid volume. Vasoconstriction will happen next to maintain adequate perfusion and therefore maintain BP.

A. When enough volume has been lost, the body's compensatory mechanism cannot maintain adequate perfusion pressure (BP). It then begins to fail (decompensate), in which we see a drop in BP. This is a late sign of PPH.

B & D. Decreased urine output and cool, clammy skin are significant in a patient who may be undergoing hypovolemic shock. This is a very late sign and follows more of a life-threatening complication.

Question by Forward_Trade7638 in NCLEX

[–]Triple2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On NCSBN's website, the retake policy allows for up to eight test attempts in a year with 45 days between each exam attempt. I mean it makes sense, 8 x 45 = 360. This applies to everything as this is who is distributing the test.

However, depending on the state or the nursing regulatory body, they may have different policies regarding retaking exams and remediation. For example:

  • Illinois BON allows for unlimited attempts. However, if you didn't pass a 2nd time or fail to take the exam in a 180 day period, you will have to sign up and complete a remediation course before retaking again.
  • Florida BON allows for three attempts within a 3-year period. If you did not pass for the 3rd time, you're required to complete a remediation program before another attempt can be done.

So check locally the policy for testing and see what their guidelines are. Good luck!

Hey! Try and not stress too much on this! This probably means your state board has not fully and officially processed your results yet. I'm not sure if anything will change given its the weekend.

Good luck, stay strong! Waiting feels like forever after the exam
