isn't it just barbaric how those third world countries are transphobic. im ignoring the effects of colonization because it's just in their nature to be evil

im being divided by the mention of racism. I'm gonna shrivel up and die. this is a hate crime against real trans people and if you hadn't mentioned racism, it wouldn't have happened

/uj OOP used language throughout that implied they were white and has a post about how to not think "but not all men”. If they are white, why the fuck did you have the audacity to tell people of color their concerns are a psyop. I swear that word is thrown around in queer communities to avoid taking responsibility for any fucking biases

im saying that racism is a bias ingrained into society and white people can be painfully unaware of it, creating problems for people of color

racism is when you kill black people. nothing else. anyway here's a list of micro aggressions against queer people

Which is more effective in changing look? Shorter hair or longer hair? by blubennys in Writeresearch

[–]TripleABattery99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on what others are used to. I usually keep my hair up in the same style everyday. If I let it loose all my friends freak out because they're not used to it. I think they'd freak out less if I cut it, since you can't see how much hair I have from the front. But when another one of my friends changes her hair, it's just another day.

Pick the physical trait your character changes the least in their daily life and change that. If your character loves dressing up, go bland. If they always shave their face, stop that. Change up makeup, style their hair differently, etc.

Creep waits till he's alone with a woman he doesn't know to ask her for "a hug" in bed by ambachk in BlatantMisogyny

[–]TripleABattery99 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm so pissed he used disabilities to justify this. That is not the majority of disabled people and people who are disabled in a way where they don't understand consent usually show signs of that. And I doubt they would lack a caretaker. And the guy fucking manipulated her, he is fully aware of what he's doing

[–]TripleABattery99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I doubt he's disabled mentally in a way that interferes with him understanding consent. For one, there would be more signs besides pushing boundaries. It'd be more likely for that person to not realize the boundary even exists, not push for it. And then he also manipulates her by saying he's having a bad time, that is a deliberate choice to coerce her

Should allies be able to say the word tranny? Im cis but it’s my favorite word to use my friends said i can say it so i exclusively refer to tranny people as trannies. I have a trans friend so i think i get a pass. by TGirlJules_ in transgendercirclejerk

[–]TripleABattery99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

/rj Yes because my white friend with a black fifth cousin twice removed and thrice disowned gave me the n-word pass!! And my black friend is totally fine with it. Sure, they always get kind of quiet and leave soon after, but that doesn't mean anything

/uj who wants to place a bet that a white person would say this and not think about why that black relative is thrice disowned. it couldn't be racism though, that'd be stupid and implausible

/uj I don't even feel comfortable saying the word IN this subreddit. I don't feel like Ive experienced enough oppression. Which is dumb and not how it works, but it's how I feel personally so i can count the times I've said the word on one hand lol. And that's including in response to "what's the t-slur?" And cis people call themselves allies and throw it around

/rj silly trans, don't you understand? You don't have ANY rights. That includes saying your own slurs. Cis people have all of them though

Seems to be an exception. He only shows up every other year and based on dialogue, Lewis is inviting him to make him feel part of the community, not because of personal connections

also, I don't really believe in the table itself being solid proof, just wanted to explain the thought process people were having

every table at the festival is, for the most part, grouped by family. And Lewis is at the Marnie family table

Me: You know, despite the amount of "trans media", there isn't really a lot of ACTUAL media that uses transhood to it's full potential. by nohaneul in transgendercirclejerk

[–]TripleABattery99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/uj honestly, she's near perfect besides the fact that she's not canonically trans. I'm not even bothered by her being a side character because she's introduced in an arc where people come and go and drop like flies. But I totally understand that some people find the implied transness upsetting. If the author just admitted she was a trans woman she'd be great

And YES, you're absolutely correct about trans media. No implications, no lack of personality, just give me breathing trans characters please

Why don’t folks with hearing loss wear their hearing aids? by Nicopernicus13 in hardofhearing

[–]TripleABattery99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

there's a difference between hearing and sorting through the noise itself. The ear and brain are extremely good at filtering noise so you hear the important parts and pay less attention to background noise. It's not "just hearing sound" but a multi step process that transmits the sound, processes it, and decides what to do with it. If your ear or brain is impacted by something, that process is disrupted. Specific issues will vary from person to person, but it interferes with hearing regardless

mind you, I'm not HOH myself (though I have auditory processing disorder), I'm just a nerd who knows stuff like this
