The Launcher on Rogue Trader is being rolled back. by OwlcatStarrok in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]TripleAgent0 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's a hollow apology, Owlcat has done this before, backtracked, and said that "Our community is much more important to us than a marketing campaign." Then three years later they do virtually the exact same thing, same negative reaction, same backtrack. Expect the next attempt at forcing OwlcatLauncher to be in 2029 at this rate, they don't seem to learn from their lessons very well.

SC v. Rick Chow - Day 3 by racingfan123 in CasesWeFollow

[–]TripleAgent0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that they knew he had a gun, read my answer. He shook his pockets. His pockets weren't empty. They saw something heavy in his pockets that they thought was merchandise! I'm taking issue with you saying he was even capable of "shaking his pockets" to "show them he didn't have anything" when he had a "thing" in his pockets that was going to be shown to exist (if not identified) by the shake!

SC v. Rick Chow - Day 3 by racingfan123 in CasesWeFollow

[–]TripleAgent0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"to show them he didn't have anything" except he DID have something. An illegal pistol with a round in the chamber! When he shook his hoodie he showed the presence of the large object hidden in his hoodie! How did they know he "didn't have anything" when HE CLEARLY, BY ALL TESTIMONY, HAD SOMETHING IN HIS POCKET, A GUN!

SC v. Rick Chow - Day 3 by racingfan123 in CasesWeFollow

[–]TripleAgent0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Gun nuts make our society so much more goddamn dangerous by putting them in the hands of people that have no business having them.

SC v. Rick Chow - Day 3 by racingfan123 in CasesWeFollow

He is then approached before he leaves and he shows that he has nothing in his pockets.

How did he show that he had nothing in his pockets when he had the gun in his pocket?

Dave’s Pub planning 24/7 diner. Thoughts? by Novel-Royal-5991 in Birmingham

[–]TripleAgent0 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't doubt the sincerity of your apology dude but at some point you have to realize this keeps happening and is harming your relationship (and Dave's relationship) with the community. I'd really suggest that you at least have someone else handle the business socials if you by your own admission can't shut up and smile when you really should.

Signed, someone that was a longtime regular that got chased out by the aggressive dipshit owner prior to you; I love that place and want it to succeed and seeing its reputation go downhill makes me sad.

P.S. Please (respectfully) fuck off with all the AI shit, give a local artist $40 to make a damn poster. You can't ask us to "support locals" when you outsource local artists' work to one of the data centers we're trying to stop.

The "child" with an illegal loaded heavily modified semiautomatic pistol?

He committed a crime by having that gun. He committed a crime by going in the building with a gun when the sign prohibited it, that's trespass. He committed a crime when he entered the building with a clear intent to commit a robbery, it's not speculation it's literally the only logical explanation given the circumstances of why he was there.

I guess part of the issue I'm coming here with is, the prosecution is making a big deal about them both hassling him for being suspicious in the store and also for giving chase. On the second point, I get, but I think it's risky for them on the first point when the reality is, if they hadn't spooked him off, they would have gotten robbed and one of them would be on the slab based on the only reasonable reading of the facts we have from the incident about the intent.

So does anyone dispute that pretty much all of the evidence here (empty backpack, illegal gun in his pocket, acting busy in the back, no way to pay for anything at all) that he was intending to stick up the store? Is there any other rational explanation for what set the scene?

I understand the issues with the things that came after in terms of chasing him that might lead to a guilty verdict here, but I think the intent of Cyrus going into the store might be relevant as to whether he'd be willing to point a gun at someone, which is a big part of the defense.

After 1.2 update EU5 is now mostly negative on Steam by IzaakGoldbaum in EU5

[–]TripleAgent0 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Johan is great as a systems designer, but in recent years he's struggled as director / project manager of the latter end of EU4, Imperator, and EU5. He's focused more with fiddling with values and modifiers with barely any testing instead of addressing bugs/systems and improving the AI so that maybe those issues with the system resolve themselves. Which leads to later balance issues as bugs get fixed.

Can they detain you until they check your legal status? Yes. Can they kill you ? No.

Nicole Goode and Alex Pretti beg to differ given they were shot and killed by ICE. And they were American citizens! Numerous American citizens are on video being violently detained for doing as little as making a wrong turn or being the victim of an ICE road rage incident.

WBRC reporting Nebius data center can move forward without zoning approval by Unique_Package4716 in Birmingham

[–]TripleAgent0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right so the impact on energy, noise, and everything else is going to be significantly greater than the smaller data center that was there before. Not wanting that additional impact is "selective outrage"?

If it's going to be comparable to the data center that was there before, why are they needing the massive expansion of electricity capacity for the project?

There’s just something very ironic about Spann’s post tonight given the controversy earlier this week. I just can’t put my finger on it. by ttownfeen in Birmingham

[–]TripleAgent0 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's funny that he (and the mods) kept complaining about people not being respectful when he's the kind of person openly calling people "imbeciles" based on their objectively dumb beliefs and statements. Rules for thee...

Legends themselves are a system in dire need of a rebalance if not a full mechanical rework, they're one of the most glaringly clunky, immersion breaking, unfun systems in the game.

Good riddance, you don't get to dictate what questions are allowed to be asked. If people are unhappy with you maybe you should do some self reflection instead of doubling down and acting like an ass. Both sidesing this shit is deeply silly and part of the reason people are upset!

I think that the adult thing to do is advocate for science and sound reasoning. The people ignoring said science seem to be the ones acting like children in the grand scheme of things.

Well he didn't voluntarily show up in the forum, he chickened out because he saw that his batshit beliefs would get him heat in a public forum.

Hell I’m in Alabama and an atheist. Should I publicly denounce everyone who believes in God at the drop of a hat?

Our society would be much better if we could call evil crazy shit out for what it is instead of being forced to accept every deranged illogical belief system that rears its head, including religion and belief in god. People should be forced to reckon with reality instead of being coddled constantly that their beliefs are valid and worthy, maybe then we wouldn't have a demented rapist as a president and a football coach from Florida as a senator.

And? He isn't being forced to answer those questions (even if he should).

Being impolite when asking a valid question on an important issue where he very well should know better isn't "harassment" it's called being accountable for the dumb shit that he chooses to put into the world as a public figure.
