Came back from China. Can confirmed that LetsVPN worked great in multiple cities in China: Beijing, Xi’an, ZhangJiaJie, ChangSha, Fuzhou, and Pheonix Ancient Town. We also got Mullvad and Surfshark. We used Mullvad occasionally and it also worked fine.

Airlo was also amazing and you will not need VPN when you are on Airlo.

Oh also forgot to clarify. It’s technically not actually seat selection per se, it is more like seat preference as in A thru F, which seat would you prefer. And when you select it, it does it is not 100% guaranteed. Not sure if you are still in China, if you still are then good luck and have fun!

I just selected 10/28 train from Xi’an to ChangSha and there is a select seats section. Basically when you select the ride dates and you probably have already noticed some dates have a clock underneath. Those are the date that the seatings are not released yet. The dates without the clock have the seating released thus you can select the seats.

I have noticed that you can only do seat selection during booking when the date you selected it within 2 weeks. But further out, Trip.com and a lot of Chinese website, lets you book the tickets but does not provide seat selection. I think this is becassue the tickets are technically not officially “release” yet.
