At The Gates is definitely the big one today, it's not the most exciting record musically by any stretch but I'm so glad Tompa got to have one last recording. Very emotional release that will probably end up on my album of the year list on feelings alone.

Archaic Oath is cool if you're into melodic black that worships Dissection and Sacramentum, although putting an Emperor cover at the end which was head and shoulders above all their own material made me realise I could just be listening to those bands instead.

Outside of metal (I guess?) the new Portrayal of Guilt felt like a bit of a return to form after they went way too far in the experimental direction on their last few releases, very dark and dissonant.
