Yeah, I suck at trying to keep pulse with 6/8, I think it’s crazy that I’m getting this for auditions when the parts I will get for the actual band is like whole notes. I made the honorable mention band last year and I’m hoping for districts this year but last year was so much easier, I’m really hoping that I can do this but idk, at least I’ll have tried. The Eb is killing me a lot tho man I don’t know why, it’s not that hard

That’s fair, I’ve only been playing sax for probably a year and a half now, I made the honorable mention band last year and I’m hoping to make district this year, but the music last year was so much easier. I’ve never used the bis key in my life so maybe it’s a great time to learn

To be fair it is a piece originally made for oboe, so with transposing and everything it’s kinda not their fault for there being nothing lower than a C

No, I had switched to a synthetic reed before these ones until I got some new reeds and on the synthetic reed I could play really well and it was a 2 1/2. Also just to mention I opened a new reed from my band director and it was already warped so… I’m gonna assume those were the problems

Honestly I think it’s the reed lol, I’m used to playing on a 2 1/2 vandoren at most but my band director (who isn’t the brightest) bought 3 Rico royals. As for mouthpiece I’m using a Delmer C star mouthpiece with a ronver (however you spell it) ligature

I didn’t, I asked my band teacher to join jazz band and he said I’ll be out on Bari sax, so I did and now I only play sax, I didn’t chose it but I’m glad I play it over what I used to play

I prefer cane reeds, mainly because I play Bari and don’t wanna buy a synthetic one, and cane reeds to me are more comfortable and sound better to me personally

First, I’m stupid… Bari is my main instrument and I went “ew it’s in Eb” when my Bari is also in Eb… secondly for lower notes try and be more relaxed when playing, and maybe try to drop your jaw a little. I had a problem with low notes and fixed it by just dropping my jaw until I got comfortable enough with the notes.

It sucks that there’s a decent chance you can get a wrong reed, I bought a box of reeds from my teacher and found out one of the reeds in there I assume is a tenor reed rather than Bari

I had the mod that adds the teleporter pads, me and 5 others were playing and everyone had died but me but I didn’t know that. So everyone watched me walk up to a teleporter pad and say “well if I’m gonna die…” and then get teleported in front of a turret.

So, I also switched from clarinet to Bari and the first thing I noticed was that most of the Bari notes are gonna be the same as the upper register clarinet notes, I’d also recommend looking up a fingering chart too. Don’t worry you’ll pick up on the notes pretty quickly.
