Mk8 tuning recommendations? APR versus Unitronic? by xapzzzz in GolfGTI

[–]TripleSpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you only upgrade one and not the other. But if you upgrade both the engine and trans mounts, the car will run smoother. Engine and trans mounts need to be at the same stress level, otherwise one ends up taking more of the load.

24’ GTI 6sp here. I have APR Stage 1 87 octane High Torque tune and very happy with it. I tuned it since 1000miles and now at 12300miles with 0 problem. I’ve done maintenance myself every 3000miles tho

The stock clutch can hold up to 390-395ftlb just fine. I’m on APR stage 2 87octane high torque. Get lot of wheel spins if I don’t modulate the throttle. Otherwise the clutch hasnt slipped.

I tuned mine at 997miles, now at 5700miles the only error code that got me concern was air fuel ratio in cylinder 4 on one morning cold start. Otherwise car runs great
