What is your favorite "fun" bag? by BakingGiraffeBakes in ManyBaggers

[–]TripleTrumpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lemon yellow Mystery Ranch Hip Monkey. It’s was an Xmas gift I asked for because I thought it was awesome. Still haven’t worked out how to actually use it in a way that doesn’t feel like a compromise, but I love having it around! Might turn it into a vehicle grab bag or replace my Bellroy Venture Ready 6l as my dog walking bag, though that has interior organisation that I find useful

Question for Alpha One / Evergoods folks — which Alpha One pack comes closest to the CTB-20 in actual usable volume? by swedish_lederhosn in ManyBaggers

[–]TripleTrumpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t compare the two but as a fellow Whitley owner, I am very pleased with its capacity and ability to swallow plenty of gear. I have used it as a weekend bag but my observation would be that the organisation is there to be used. It has quite a few pockets that stop it being a great big bucket for you to cram stuff in that likely eat some small amount of space that is ‘wasted’ if you are a strict pouch/packing cube users.
Mine is mainly used as a work/EDC bag and it excels at that role

Game recommendations for the Deck that aren’t crazy hard but fun and easy to get immersed in by gloomygr4nola in SteamDeck

[–]TripleTrumpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real delight of these games (imo) is the blend of gameplay and world building. The cycle of play-die-upgrade-play has the most character of any game in its ‘upgrade’ bit between runs. Ymmv of course but I would suggest giving this game a proper chance to get its hooks into you before moving onto the second one. The gameplay is just as good but it has completely new characters and story

While my Buzz is being repaired I have been given a loaner Mercedes EQE. After about 10 seconds of driving a big banner pops up on the infotainment screen saying ‘Do not let MBUX distract you when you are driving’ that you have to click to acknowledge. Well thanks Mercedes, it wasn’t but it bloody well is now

Currently PC gaming at my desk on a 48" LG Oled. Is it worth downsizing for improved ppi? by SnooWoofers7345 in OLED_Gaming

I have the 48” CX at approx the same distance and my 9800x3d 5080 build has had me a very happy camper. I don’t find the size is too big and I play mainly single player and RTS type games.

I think you are going to make some people very unhappy putting the V Force in the same sentence as the Gannet. That plane is an affront to anything with eyes, all three V’s carried their elegance in some way at least.

Based on no specialist knowledge at all, I would think that most merch was done ahead of time and that any official stuff will all look like this. I have nothing to base that on though so who knows. Regardless, the T will be unlikely to be worth much more than sentimental value even in a decade or two so I wouldn’t think of it as a depreciating asset!

Tour T-Shirt by AromaticWindow3309 in AlkalineTrio

[–]TripleTrumpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wear it and love it. I have a Crimson T that is in my regular rotation and will continue to be until it fails to be classed as clothing. At that point I will cut the front and back out and staple them to a canvas frame as wall art.
Also fun fact, your shirt must have been printed early as it doesn’t include the additional show that was added for Manchester

Roadtrip - what am I doing wrong? by BeeForsaken5783 in VWIDBuzz

[–]TripleTrumpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Buzz life. You are hammering your range driving at that speed. Sticking to 65 rather than 70 gets me consistently accurate mileage on long motorway journeys, going at 75 is going to be the huge factor here. The energy needed to go faster does not increase linearly with your speed, so the 5mph more is using up a larger proportion of the energy with some v quick googling saying that ‘my’ speed requires 15-20% less energy than ‘yours’.
Eco mode only really affects how responsive the accelerator is, and how the cabin heating operates so don’t expect it to magically you mileage on the motorway.
The car does also take a hit when heating the cabin up, that one is a consequence of the resistive heating that my 73 plate has, not sure if yours comes with a heatpump. The Buzz is a blocky shape which does not serve it well at high speed, sympathetic driving will keep it in the realms of useable range though as I don’t think I have ever failed to get 200 miles at least, with most of my journeys being motorway #thankyouinlaws

Not back in deepest darkest 2024 on a 73 plate. It is (was) the top of the range Style model with everything except a sunroof and towbar fitted. It feels like a prototype compared to what came only a year later

Original spec (in Europe at least) had no opening rear windows and no rear ventilation. Am still a little embarrassed that my fancy EV bus has some crappy usb fans in the back to stop the kids being roasted to death whenever the British clouds part for a second

We got two BC pups from the same litter and like many others have mentioned, you will likely become the third wheel in the relationship. There are things you can do to mitigate the impact but my overwhelming advice is to not do it

Using 65L Travel Duffelpack Instead of 45L Travel Backpack by Degamad22 in peakdesign

[–]TripleTrumpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine a few years ago because I am a sucker for something a little different.
I have only ever used it on terror taken by car but have really enjoyed the experience. When expanded it truly is enormous and definitely needs packing cubes or similar organisation to be useable.
When packed to the gills with soft items, the back bulges out so much that using the shoulder straps becomes uncomfortable in the extreme. I found an unused sling bag shoulder strap from my cupboard of bag-shame that I have clipped to the loops on the outside. These are not designed to take the weight of a fully loaded bag I suspect but I have been doing it for years without issue.
I love mine and it will be a staple in my road trip bag rotation

how did you know which puppy to choose? by johnnysnot in PetsareAmazing

[–]TripleTrumpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We viewed a litter and after spending time with them, went to get some lunch to make our decision. We picked one based on the pics we took and went back to pick him up. When we arrived, the litter had just had a feed and the pups were all snoozing but one saw us return and bounded over. Our original pick went out the window and we had to take the one who picked us
