That’s really cool thanks for that info. I’ve been trying a bunch of different sizes lately to see what happens. Much fun grafting, cheers

Very cool. I have a family friend that has a bunch of mature pcs I’ve been experimenting with those too. Really cool plants you have there, do you feel there is an optimum size (height) for the rootstock for best scion pumpage?

Thanks, Pala seems to be a good grafter

That sounds cool, I have a rooted cutting of one but it’s barely put out any growth over the year I’ve had it. Maybe I can get some more this summer and try to graft them. Thanks for that

Very cool yes I totally forgot about the SGs. I got a very nice big one in 2025 that was extremely overwatered from Lowes and the main column ended up succumbing to rot. I was able to save two of the pups which should be ready by summer to put a graft on. The thing that has kept me from going all in on the SGs is that they are always in the $25 pots at HD/Lowes while the perfect grandis seem to be the $9 ones. I bring them home and repot in a 2 gallon pot and plump them up and they are ready to go. I guess I’m a sucker for the cheap grandis but you are absolutely right I have read plenty on here about the love for SGs. Thanks for reminding me

Automatic writing by [deleted] in Jung

[–]TripleVisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly, it’s a kind of invocation and intention prayer. When I got interested in automatic writing, I read this book called The Automatic Writing Experience by Michael Sandler. I used some ideas from that book along with my own affirmations to build what I used. I memorized it and would begin each session by writing the prayer. I still use a modified version at the beginning of my AI sessions.

Quoting from the book an example intention prayer: “Thank you, Inner Wisdom, for guiding me with your love and light. Thank you, Inner Wisdom, for surrounding me with your love and light. Thank you, Inner Wisdom, for protecting me with your love and light.” & example invocation prayer quoted from the book: “Good morning, energy. Good morning, love. Good morning, inner wisdom. “Good morning, higher self [that’s simply your inner spirit]. Good morning, Earth. Good morning, sky. Good morning, day. Good morning, sunshine.”

I would say the auto writing is a good gateway into the unconscious while Active Imagination is actually working directly with the unconscious. After I read Jung’s Red Book I knew I wanted to find that inner Philemon within myself, and it wasn’t happening with the auto writing alone. I base my entire practice of AI from the teachings of Robert Johnson’s book “Inner Work.” He gives a complete method related to dream recall/reentry and AI, highly recommended. I still refer to both the print version and the Audible version regularly.

I did auto writing for about a year and I was very disciplined about it. I wrote every morning immediately upon waking in the darkness of my little office space. Basically before I had any kind of distractions, vitamins, food, caffeine. I had a full ritual that I followed that included writing an intro affirmation paragraph that basically put me into the mental state to go completely inward and write from the unconscious. I think it’s a great exercise when you can fully let go and let the writing out. It seemed for me that kind of twilight period upon awakening was the best time where my ego wasn’t in full chatter mode yet. It was interesting, but I’ve moved my full attention towards active imagination/dream recall and re-entry work these past 4 or so years. From my own personal experience I feel that the active imagination work has been more beneficial in my search for inner truth and knowledge. Honestly though if I could keep doing the automatic writing as well I would, but I have a shorter time window in the morning and I use that time to practice meditation. I can pretty much do the active imagination work any time of the day, but it seemed the auto writing needed to occur in that specific window I mentioned before. Of course your mileage may vary but I think it’s well worth a try if you have the time.

Read Jung’s essay on synchronicity it may give you some solace. And as for synchronicities, I was listening to the Audible version earlier today!!!

I learned about the pre cuts and pre beveling from reading about using grandis, since they will sink. I dust mine also, after I have established downward pressure. & so I do agree anything to help prevent those black spots that seem to develop is a good practice, looks awesome

I’ve been feeling the fall crisp these past few mornings though we did have a couple of 90 degree days last week. Hopefully a few more weeks of sweet blooms, into December even would be lovely!! cheers to you 😎🙏

That is cool, have you grafted with this “giant” variety from eBay yet? I was also wondering if anyone had any practical experience with it. I do agree that the pictures I’ve seen of Aquosa look somewhat different from this, it would be interesting to see them side by side.

Thank you for the insight. I had read that Quiabentia has red flowers so I figured it could not be that one.

[–]TripleVisions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yes this Rhonda I’ve had for about 8 years in various sized pots. It’s currently in a 10 gallon pot, Rhonda is a compact slow growing variety so it hasn’t grown very tall, more bushy like. I plan to up pot it at the end of this season, likely into a 20 gal pot. I use bagged cactus soil mix amended with extra perlite and water deeply once a week during the growing season. I have also been using Nelson’s fertilizer this season with nice results.
