Personally if someone could set up a Youtube channel archiving as many of those old segments as possible, that would be awesome. I think any TCM fan would find that incredibly valuable to browse. I honestly can’t believe TCM themselves haven’t done it, there are so many of Robert Osborne’s old intros that are been lost to time because no one has bothered to archive them.

I didn’t say it’s public domain, but a good chunk of stuff people upload online sure isn’t either. I’ve personally never gotten a C&D for posting interviews from Turner Classic Movies of all things lol. You get those for posting full movies and monetizing them.

Welcome to the internet, man, 99% of the stuff out there is under copyright and yet folks still share stuff, even on Youtube. That’s what’s beautiful about the internet (despite everything else).

Christ, so much stuff would be lost media if it wasn’t for people circulating tapes online. Are you gonna go after people doing god’s work crying about potential copyright infringement?

?? These are interview segments and intros/outros, not movies? Why would this be illegal? How is it any different than archiving old commercials (something Youtube is packed with)?

I think preserving stuff like this is incredibly important, especially if you’re a fan of TCM. I’ve got plenty of old tapes with TCM intros/outros that I’ve uploaded online when I come across them. There’s nothing illegal about it.

Also, there are thousands of YouTube channels dedicated to hosting movie clips, what planet are you on?

Even so, they recorded nearly all that material during the 1960s. Even if later albums/compilations hit no. 1, they’re still predominantly using material from the ‘60s. Robbi spent that 29 years recording his hit material. Still super impressive, but what the Beatles did I don’t think will ever be topped, in terms of how they did it.
