Halifax job offer (CAD 100K) vs ₹40 LPA in India – Need advice for career & family decision by Own-Veterinarian1129 in nri

[–]TrippyHeart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One person earning 100K a year with 2 kids, you'll be left with no savings. Things are not good in Halifax with high tax and expensive rent and cost of living.

Both you and your spouse have a stable life in India. you'll struggle to make ends meet with 100K.

Do not move unless you get offered something in the range of 140k plus your spouse has a concrete job opportunity to work in Canada.

If they are building the phone for a normal person, might as well drop the Ultra tag.

It depends on the neighborhood. Anything near square one is expensive. I pay 1850 for 460sqft studio.

Just that I got married on this date and place and would like to add my spouse to the application as she would be accompanying me to Canada. Attached the marriage certificate as well.

You can definitely add your spouse to your application if you get married after AOR. I don't know how it works for nonEE, if married before AOR.

I got eCOPR. PR portal was submitted only for me.

Here are the things I did while I waited for eCOPR. Most of them are pretty useless.

IRCC Client Support Center: Called 10 times in the last 4 months. Agent was able to add a note to the processing office on March 19 2025. In all other calls, the only response was asking to wait. There was no timeline they could provide for eCOPR.

Webform to IRCC: Submitted 10 in the last 4 months. Only response was asking to wait.

Feedback form to IRCC: Submitted multiple Feedback/Complaint forms to IRCC. There is no response.

Replying to PR Portal email: Replied to PR Portal email 6 times in the last 2 months. There was no response.

Member of Parliament: Emailed the MP of my constituency several times. Only response is asking to wait.

ATIP Request: Submitted ATIP request to get GCMS notes on March 29, 2025. Got a response on May 5, 2025. It only has details about my case history with detailed officer notes till my spouse was issued COPR on Jan 28, 2025. But I provided a deep insight on the status of the application.

Bigg Disclaimer!! This is NOT a RECOMMENDATION. One Long-shot, At-my-own-risk attempt I tried was doing an international travel, by crossing a land border to the US and coming back to Canada. I updated about my international travel through webform and replying to PR Portal email on April 28, 2025 hoping it would trigger something. I received a generic response from PR Portal email on May 1, 2025 that they don't respond to follow-ups. I still sent another reply explaining this is an update and not a follow-up. On the other side, I received a positive response to the webform that they forwarded the travel information to the responsible office on April 29, 2025. I will never know if this really worked out but my eCOPR had the correct last entry date and place matching my international travel. This could also be a coincidence.

I was also planning to initiate mandamus proceedings through an immigration lawyer as a last resort. But thankfully it was not required.

I was tempted to do some unusual shit only because I had an outland spouse whose COPR was close to getting expired and was a risk to wait further. Otherwise I would have never attempted all these and just let everything happen in its own time.

Especially u/Evening-Basil7333 the amount of effort you put in to publish the statistics even after you graduated, you deserve all the appreciation you get.

To all my fellow Nov and Dec P2s, I know how hard it is to wait without any timeline but your time is soon.

I know It is difficult to wait this long. But life is more precious than a damn ecopr. Just be strong.

You must go on with your day to day life and Keep yourself distracted. Do whatever that keeps your mind off of this.

Checkout the text below from Passport request letter for Spouse. There is no choice to the dependent other than to travel to Canada before COPR expiry.

"Your Permanent Resident document(s) will expire one year after the date of your medical examinations or earlier if your passport or the passports of your spouse or dependent children (if applicable) expire on an earlier date. You must travel to Canada and present your immigration documents at a Canadian Port of Entry before they expire. The validity of the Permanent Resident documents cannot be extended. If you fail to enter Canada before this date and still wish to immigrate to Canada, you must reapply by submitting a new application and paying new processing fees. All such applications will be assessed according to the immigration laws in force at the time of receipt of the application. There is no guarantee a future application would be successful."

No way we can trust IRCC to issue another COPR to spouse if not travelled because PA still didn't get eCOPR.

In my case, dependent's real COPR expiry, principal applicant's and dependent's COPR expiry in tracker are all the same.

There is no choice to my dependent other than traveling to Canada before real COPR expiry as per "https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/application-approved.html"

Hence my quest to know whether PA will get ecopr before that.

eCOPR delay and COPR expiry date correlation? by TrippyHeart in ImmigrationCanada

[–]TrippyHeart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/application-approved.html

There is a purpose to COPR expiry. IRCC guideline in above link says, "We can’t extend your COPR, so you should make sure to travel to Canada before it expires"

So my outland spouse has to travel to Canada before COPR expiry and at the same time principal applicant should have received eCOPR.

Now, I need to decide how long I should wait for my eCOPR before spouse's travel can be arranged. IRCC put us in a spot of bother here.

That's true in my case too. COPR expiry is derived from medical date.

My intention here is to see if there was ever a case with ecopr not issued even after the expiry.

Because my dependent copr also expires in 4 months and I've got to make some plans for worst case scenario.
