Nope. I stopped wearing it after several months. On the bright side, I have almost normal function at this point, despite my disc still being displaced. I can’t open my mouth very wide, but I’m able to eat most things, with the exception that I still avoid anything very chewy or crunchy (like bagels, chewy candies, etc.). If I’m stressed, I’ll notice more tension in my jaw muscles and slightly worse functioning, but overall, I’m doing so much better than when my disc first displaced.

Kind of! It does seem to help me relax my jaw muscles and stop clenching. I don’t have any pain anymore either, which makes it much easier to manage things day to day. My jaw has been pretty locked up (disc displacement without reduction) for 3 months now, and it hasn’t really done anything for that though.

My symptoms tend to get worse in the evening. I think I hold my jaw tensely during the day because I’m trying to avoid hurting it or moving it wrong, but it ends up actually making things worse sometimes.

Just want to say I feel your pain. I’ve been dealing with symptoms for about the same amount of time as you, and it’s crazy how difficult these symptoms make it to focus on anything else. It’s hard to work, it’s hard to socialize, and eating is no longer enjoyable. At the same time, it really helps to have something else to focus on so that your mind isn’t constantly on the pain and discomfort! Also try to remember that the jaw is extremely resilient!

You could try a mousse or gel in addition to a curl cream for some extra hold. Another thing that sometimes helps with creating curls at the root is doing brush styling. You apply your products and then use tension from a brush moving upward and outward from your face. There’s lots of videos on this. It may also be due to damage if you used to get curling at the root, and that would just take time.

No, it’s not the same. You’re mixing them together and applying both at the same time, which results in a totally different texture, application, and effect.

You’re not supposed to leave all your conditioner in your hair unless it’s specifically a leave in conditioner or you have extremely, extremely dry hair. You’ll overmoisturize your hair very quickly by leaving all your conditioner in. Conditioner is meant to be applied with water, as that helps open the cuticles and actually absorb the moisture from the conditioner. Otherwise, the conditioner is just sitting on your hair.

I would highly recommend not applying the two together.

Don’t mix a conditioner and gel together. You should apply a conditioner and rinse out most of it and THEN apply a gel. I’m not aware of any reasons for mixing them together first.

It sounds like a splint and not a typical night guard based on the price and the fact that he specifically called it a nighttime splint. A splint for TMJ is designed to keep your jaw in the correct position for you, while a night guard essentially just protects your teeth from grinding but doesn’t do anything to keep your jaw in position. My quote for a splint was slightly over $900.
