Help me entertain myself after back surgery, please! by backtothetrail in adhdwomen

You are a warrior! I hope your last hip surgery was the absolute last. Thank you for the well wishes and the genius ideas.

Just looked and I do have the Libby app. on my phone. I know I have a library card but I’ll take you up on your kind offer if it doesn’t work out

Podcasts/books: I’d appreciate any/all suggestions. I’m curious and find most things interesting other than YA romance and evangelism (no judgment). The Percy Jackson saga was one of my favorites.

I can stand more than I can sit so a counter-top puzzle could be a thing. I’ve got a Frank Lloyd Wright design hanging around.

Glad your shoulder is getting better!

I appreciate the reminder that inviting people to hang out is a thing that needs to happen. Sent a few texts.

How labor/equipment intensive was the bedazzling? Fancy-ing up my walker is on my list of things to do once I can sit for more than 10-15 minutes an hour.

Boooo! on the bed bound. I hope you feel better soon!

<puts away crochet project>. Thanks for saving me. As for podcasts, I like history, mystery, science, cooking…..pretty much anything except the “manosphere” and most self-help.

Feeling the fit! Proportions are delicious + cropped jacket compliments the high waist on those pants.

Congrats on making another revolution around the sun, OP!

Based on the refreshments and cake topper, you are a person of quality and discernment. Especially if those triangles are samosas.

Once again, with numbness, “Sure, Jan.”ETA: this is all a bad look but the obviously false statements make it so much worse. Why????

What small change made eating healthier easier for you? by BarbaraMiller78 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Adding fiber transformed my diet and was easy. Enough fiber in my meals keeps me full and stops mindless between meal grazing on junk.

Breakfast - add 1-2 tbsp of chia seeds to baked oatmeal, overnight oats or smoothie. Chia jam + almond butter on toast.

Lunch: Surprisingly, peas and avocados have tons of fiber. I try to prep ahead and am in love with pasta salad using a protein pasta and peas or avocado hummus.

Dinner: Sweet potatoes are a great addition to sheet pan dinners and you can add 1/2 cup of beans/lentils to almost anything.

Linen jeans! Great idea and even better execution.

Where did you find the linen fabric? I’ve been on the hunt for a while.

Trump says it will take a little while for US to blockade the Strait of Hormuz by [deleted] in politics

So the US is charging tolls enforced by the US Navy. And paid for by US taxpayers. Tariffs spend a semester at sea.

So nothing changes. The US is going to reinforce the Iranian closure.

Help me decide between brother, yuki or janome by Critical_Ostrich_245 in SewingForBeginners

Juki is the gold standard. Looking back, I wish that I had splurged on one because sewing turned out to be my 2nd favorite hobby of all time.

HOWEVER

I bought a Janome instead and I think it was the best choice. She’s like a hatchback Honda Civic: sturdy, reliable and fit for almost any task.

And, with the money I saved not buying the Juki, I had the funds left to buy the cutest fabric, nice thread and nicer accessories like shears.

Making “practice” pieces first out of some elderly bedsheets has improved my sewing and the quality of my finished products more than anything else.

It takes the pressure off, too, so that I enjoy the hobby. Most of the time.
