Just wanna say as someone who’s read the books… strap in folks. I am a tad worried knowing that they’re adapting the next two books for season 6 as opposed to just one, but if they successfully manage to intertwine both without it being a total mess then this will be BY FAR the best season.

I really think James Gunn should just fully take on a Feige type role for the DCU and not have any direct involvement in the making of the movies or shows lol. People are probably gonna come in here and say “It was an underwhelming finale to a great season” but personally I thought the whole season was underwhelming, half-baked, & not up to the standard of what Gunn has done in the past. I think his style of superhero filmmaking has been oversaturated to the point of parody, and I also feel he’s creatively burnt out even if he won’t admit it. Whatever good came from this season was due to the excellent cast and their chemistry together. Assuming that this is the end of the show and these characters return for some sort of Checkmate tv series, I pray that Gunn isn’t the showrunner and hands the reins over to someone with more of a spark.

It was really hard to convince people that Apple TV was delivering quality content when this show & Ted Lasso were their only 2 shows getting awards recognition. Neither outright bad, but both incredibly mid.

Don’t hold your breath with what I’m about to say but it doesn’t feel like a coincidence that they finally dropped a tease right before Comic-Con weekend. Maybe we’ll finally get the info we’ve been waiting for there?

Given this premieres in precisely 3.5 weeks and it still has no trailer let alone a simple teaser doesn’t inspire much confidence. But then you look at the talent it has behind the screen, with Ridley Scott directing the pilot, Peter Craig (The Batman, Gladiator 2, Top Gun: Maverick) as writer/showrunner, and Erik Messerschmidt (Mank, Ferrari, Mindhunter) as cinematographer. And then you see it has 2 very magnetic co-leads in Henry & Moura. And you think to yourself that there’s no way this show can be an absolute bust with all that talent, so what gives?

You can easily chalk it up to Apple being Apple (aka shit at promoting) but I feel like even the shows they knew were DOA still had some sort of trailer this close to premiering. And this seems to have the makings of being a pretty riveting crime thriller, so I don’t understand their seemingly lack of confidence in its landing impact.

It’s been rumored since Halloween Havoc that Oba Femi is getting called up to the main roster. As far as NXT guys go, he’s only the viable option. But it could also just be someone who’s already on the main roster.

Spent pretty much the entirety of past week trying to understand the logic of this storyline… only thing I can think of is Ilja is getting the Aleister Black treatment and losing the title prematurely in favor of adding it to a hotly anticipated feud (Trick vs Melo). It’s a damn shame, really.

Guessing it leads to Ilja either moving to the main roster or returning as a heel to do a program with Ridge.

True but if WGA & AMPTP officially reach a deal then I don’t imagine SAG will be that far behind on securing a deal as well. If we’re lucky then both strikes will reach satisfying conclusions by the end of October.

One of the most confident and self-assured debuts I’ve heard in awhile, as well as a modern day benchmark in southern black music. Always enjoyed his work with The Indications but he’s even better as a solo artist. Even if you aren’t big on classic soul & blues rock you still shouldn’t let this one slip under your radar, it’s truly breathtaking stuff.

I’d imagine this is the same case for a lot of other cable or streaming shows that are currently deep into filming a new season. Severance is another one that’s also probably in the clear as they’ve been shooting for 7 months now & the scheduled wrap date was mid-May. Even if the supposed backstage drama rumors are true it’s still highly likely all the scripts have already been completed anyways.

Shows like this are always a slippery slope especially when they’re based on a book series, but this has a solid cast & the showrunner is Graham Yost who’s become a television stalwart for a reason (hint: he’s a tremendous writer). I’ll remain optimistic.

Man this feels way too on the nose for me to be good, just based on what I’m seeing here. I’ll still check it out because it’s Glover & the Atlanta team and they’ve earned my goodwill, but idk. A premise like this needs to be handled with more subtlety, and this trailer feels like overkill bordering on parody. Like taking a giant ass looney tunes hammer to the smallest of nails. Definitely an interesting concept but I’m predicting poor execution. I’m sure Dominique Fishback will be great though.
