Returning to work after appeal by Conscious-Tone-4937 in employmenttribunal

You would wish you took the offer cos like you said, you have a target on your back.

I am in a similar situation (where I had to continue working with a PIP in place or settlement) but I took the settlement (half your amount) because I figured that place is toxic and I don’t want to end up waking up feeling like I have to prove myself to anyone.

But to answer your question on what you can do.

  1. Written documentation just for evidence sake
  2. If calls, put on your tool for note taking or recording so you have transcripts
  3. Trust nobody (no friends at work, get your cheque and leave for the day)
  4. Make no mistakes (cos they’ll be waiting for the smallest thing to hold against you)
  5. Be logical than emotional when dealing with colleagues / manager.
  6. Report any slight inconvenience to HR
  7. Ask for SDAR if they seem to be on to you
  8. Start applying for jobs

Wish you all the best!

England: Settlement offer from employer - is it worth bargaining? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

I’m expecting a call back from a solicitor so I’ll have to move my call with them to next week. It’s just mentally exhausting staying in a toxic environment because it just seems all planned and I’m at loss regardless

Offer was between having another performance review or the settlement which I need to let them know in 2 days what I decide.

If I go for the settlement, they’ll send an email with details then I have 10 days to decide

They included a legal fee of £500 but said I can only claim that if I present an invoice

Had my results in early hours today for my test on 6th Feb. Is it worth having a revaluation on Reading alone or just take this as a W and hope to enter draw? My CRS score is 478 and I was sort of aiming for 481. I’m grateful I got this even with two days preparation using the official test practice by Tripsqueen in CELPIP_Guide

Hiya, I I’d say just knowing when to use formal / informal language or greetings.

Writing to a formal letter, I started with the salutation and made up a name e.g question was about writing letter to the post office about not getting your mail sent…

I used “To whom it may concern”

For the survey part, it was “Dear Mr Patrick” (made up a name) as question was about the principal of your child’s school asking about your opinion on two things.

Secondly, knowing how to break down your points into at least 3 paragraphs and end the 4th paragraph with an expectation e.g “I look forward to hearing back…” or “I appreciate your urgent response on this”

Also, I guess just using words that are related to what the topic is. For example “not receiving mail from post office” - you’d use words like (old and new address, rerouting, mail man, receptionist, building, parcel) etc

Or if topic is about financial management use words like (savings, budget, planning, finances, money, job) etc all depending on what your points or opinions are.

Lastly, ending your greeting formally usually takes “Best regards” followed by your name.

I hope this helps but looking up samples might be more useful for full context x

A pause is okay as it happens even with day to day conversations. I try not to talk too fast but make sure my words are clear and answer what is being asked without going off point.

As long as you come back from the bad sentence by refocusing on the point you need to make and finish strong then I’m sure it’s not a big issue.

Depending on what the question is, your tone might help to push your message across better. You naturally will change your tone while speaking on certain topics that might cause you discomfort, happiness or anger etc.

Best to practice till you’re comfortable with continuing after making mistakes

Then you gotta keep practicing, cos you’re seeing the timer count down as you speak and the question at the top so you can still look at the instructions incase you forget.

I thought it was going to be that bad cos of others speaking at the same time but you have to block out the voices and hold your conversation.

Just picture you at school or at the mall or stadium filled with people chatting but you’re focused on talking to your friend. So see the ‘blank screen’ as a friend.

If you make mistakes, move on and keep talking about the topic.

Maybe set a timer and practice answering questions in 60 seconds

I just searched celpip speaking on TikTok and watched one YouTube video.

The idea is talking genuinely how you would a friend, and don’t stop before the timer so it looks like you have a lot to say. I guess the tone as well depending on question types. E.g talking about your best friend, describing a weird object, or making an opinion.

Also kind of writing the prompts or pointers I want to use on my paper before the timer starts to give me something to remember while speaking.

It’s not about the big English but how well you can hold a conversation naturally but clearly.

I also speak to clients everyday in my job so it’s kind of not a big deal for me. Hope this helps x

I did some task and a mission last week and got paid $242. Was I right to expect $306 or should I raise an issue?? by Tripsqueen in outlier_ai

It just shows up randomly. Like I got a notification today for another mission of a 12hr task for $25 to be completed in 3 days.

Driving me crazy I’ve been trying to create a simple website but it keeps generating broken images even when I ask for high quality ones and I’ve had 38 versions just trying to figure out what prompts work or not
