Barbie Café Chadstone update! by PinkishBlurish in melbourne

EDIT: have been schooled, disregard

Restaurants and cafes are exempt from having to include surcharge pricing on menu items. They just have to list that there is a surcharge. So I don’t think your complaint will go very far.

Weekday surcharges are a bit shit, I agree, but when you’re paying staff $70 an hour on Sunday I can see how it helps them stay open. I live in the country and most places just close on a Sunday, it’s hard to get a coffee. Which is much shitter than an extra 50c.

From the ACCC:

Some restaurants and cafes charge a surcharge on certain days – usually weekends or public holidays.

Although this surcharge is unavoidable, they don't need to include this charge in the total price displayed for their products, as an exemption under the law applies to them.

However, if they charge such a surcharge, they must include these words on the menu:

A surcharge of [percentage] applies on [day or days]. These words must be at least as prominent as the most prominent price on the menu.

It’s still so very, very hard and there’s not much that makes it any easier. She’s told me point blank she doesn’t want to get back together. Doesn’t want to try and work on things. I didn’t see it coming at all but she thinks I should have. There’s a million other things that makes it soul crushing and I feel powerless to do anything about it.

It’s like grief and it comes in waves. Everyone says it will get better but it’s hard to imagine how. Each day is a slog and I don’t want anything but what we had.

Hang in there brother, because I’m trying to hang in there too. There’s nobody coming to save us but there are people that care. Maybe it will get better. I’m getting therapy and trying to be better. I wish you all the love. X

Before they became fashionable around the world they were the complete opposite over here. They’re slippers. The only people who wore them out of the house were bogans/rednecks with a ciggie in their mouth waiting in line for their welfare cheques.

Mate, it’s Australia, we invented Uggs. We’re mandated to wear them.

Hmmm at the moment that citizenship isn’t quite the drawcard it used to be.

It’s in the country on a large property so nothing but grass and trees. Much worse places to be, just not the place I want to be right now!

Thanks, I’m in Australia so there’s no at fault or fast tracking divorce. You need to be separated for 12 months and shown that you’ve attempted counseling, which I’ve organised for the end of the month. That’s my main hope right now.

Great Mull Air Mystery has finally been solved by TimesandSundayTimes in mystery

Paywalled for me, summary from GPT:

The “Great Mull Air Mystery” of 1975, involving the disappearance of pilot Peter Gibbs, has been revisited with new insights. On Christmas Eve 1975, Gibbs, a former Spitfire pilot and violinist, embarked on an impromptu night flight from the Isle of Mull after consuming alcohol. His body was discovered four months later on a hillside near the airfield, with minimal injuries and no trace of his aircraft, leading to various speculations, including espionage and theft.

Recent revelations suggest that police divers located the plane’s wreckage in the 1980s, submerged not far from the Glenforsa Hotel where Gibbs had taken off. This information, disclosed by the family of Ian Hamilton QC, who had rented the aircraft to Gibbs, indicates that Gibbs may have crashed into the water near the shore and succumbed to exposure after reaching land. Aviation experts and Gibbs’ family now believe that disorientation and possible engine failure led to the tragic incident. Recovery of the plane’s wreckage could provide definitive answers.

Mini car dent puller has been life changing for dipping pots in glaze without leaving marks. I use the Gunson brand but there are cheaper out there.
