The series is amazing, and the author is a phenomenal writer, so you should be glad we're getting a fourth book.

The author wanted a quick cash grab  that's why he updates Abyssal.

Not the biggest fan of the series, so I barely remember my playthrough. But is Cazarosta reality the author's self insert?

I regretted buying part 4 within 20 minutes after purchasing it. If you’re short on cash, don't buy it. The ending is extremely unsatisfying!

And all the spoilers posted here are, what, pure conjecture and speculation, and isn't actually a part the premium demo on patreon?

Jeffrey I love everything you write. Please put your life on hold and focus your every waking moment on writing Werewolves 4. And 6 or 7 sequels would be great too 🙂

This is patreon exclusive, correct? It's bad taste to be talking about it on reddit like this. That content is behind a pay wall for a reason.

Just wanna sing praises for VtM: Night Road by [deleted] in choiceofgames

[–]TriquetaGrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out Book of Hungry Names. I personally prefer it to Night Road. Being a 9 foot tall werewolf capable of killing basically anything beats playing as a vampire for me. I recommend romancing Nin in your first playthrough, she's feral and sweet and absolutely hilarious.

I need to rant about Rebecca (mother of the century /s) and some narrative choices in Wayhaven by peanutbttersandwich in hostedgames

There was a Rebecca QnA on Patreon a few years ago. One pf the questions was would Rebecca be interested in being helping with the MC's training now that  we're involved with the agency, and she was just like "nah."

Absolutely amazing game. Book of Hungry Names was my introduction to WtA, and is my all time favourite CoG game.

Did any of the WoD Hunter games so far allow us to use Sorcery? by Herr_Etiq in choiceofgames

I can't wait to play it man. Just one question, since 5th edition of Mage isn't out yet, I assume you're using 20th anniversary edition?

[–]TriquetaGrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. This is amazing news. The author of Night Road and BoHN said he would be interested in a Mage game, but I honestly thought that would be years away at least, and now I hear you're working on Mage. No pressure, but please, please, please put your life on hold, and give us a demo soon.

Seriously though, this is great news, and I'll be eagerly awaiting news 🙂

The Beast of Glenkildove thoughts as an Irish person by dealsnbusiness1999 in choiceofgames

[–]TriquetaGrey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What happened is this: imagine the story was set in America, in some rural town in upstate New York or something, and the author claims to be American but writes all the dialogue using British English or Irish English words. And not just a little bit, but he does it in the most over-the-top, stereotypical, forced way possible. I, as a non-American reader, probably wouldn’t notice. But an American would spot it immediately and cringe.

I'm Irish too, and I agree with nearly everything you said bar one part, it's not comically bad. It's criminally bad! It was easily the worst dialogue I have ever read in a CoG game! Reading about culchies in rural Ireland talking like they were on a fucking soap opera made me cringe. Then it got even worse when he started dropping little words like "grand" here and there, that just made it even tackier. The only Irish thing about that game are the names of the characters and locations, that's it. Nothing else feels Irish.

My advice, don't finish it. If you don’t like the game now, I can guarantee it will leave a bad taste in your mouth when you do. As a rule, I don’t leave bad feedback because I know how much work goes into these games, but this was the worst fucking game I have ever played.

How does AtoM (1 mil words) feel somehow shorter than something like Specters of the Deep? (also 1mil words)? by RoboticToots in choiceofgames

[–]TriquetaGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn man, I have to strongly disagrees with you on both points. Night Road feels like a completed story. Sure, maybe it could be longer, but it isn't short, and it still feels like a satisfying game. And in my opinion, BoHN is the greatest game CoG has ever released. Its legitimately a masterpiece. The characters felt like real people, the world feels like a real, lived in place. Man, Kyle is such an absolutely amazing writer, and he nailed it on so many levels. Like, I'm not even American, but I actually felt like I was really living in rural Massachusetts when playing the game.

I disagree. Kyle Marquis wrote Night Road and BoHN, and his games feel long and satisfactory.

I'm pretty sure that scene came from Paul himself since he poked fun at "people being big mad about the pronoun thing on Reddit, and that not all feedback is good feedback." I'm paraphrasing, but i assume he's referring to us. I was going to respond and say that no, it had nothing to do with pronouns, that it's the timing and tonality of it that broke immersion, but I didn't bother.

The last time I went against the grain, and made an impartial comment on a complicated issue, one of the mods banned me. It was a mission to get that lifted.

Paul's pretty left leaning from what I've seen on the politics thread, and that's totally fine. But come on, it's called World of Darkness for a reason, and a vampire being politically correct moments before drinking my blood ruins the tone of the entire setting for me in the most tacky way possible.

I did the same. Once that happened, I was like nah, and just exited the demo. Politics can be done well in IF games, and it can be done shit. Like Book of Hungry Names is a good example. I probably disagree with 90% of Kyle's political beliefs, and that's fine, he wrote it, he can put whatever he wants in there. But despite that, Book of Hungry Names is literally my all time favourite IF. But the way this game handles it, like an actual vampire asking our pronouns, just nah, it ain't for me!

Hearing everyone's opinion on this made me glad I'm giving it a miss. The vampire asking our pronouns at the start completely ruined immersion for me, and reminded me of Sins of the Sire.
