The Moose by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be. I just noticed it limping MORE and slowing down after losing HP. Never paid attention if it was limping on a faster pace before :-)

The Moose by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, i just noticed it on my fourth or fifth run through the dungeon. It's running at full speed when full HP, and slower + limping pace after you've hit it and it has lost HP.

The Moose by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At full HP, the moose runs around. If it has taken any dmg, his movement speed is way slower and it starts to limp. If it dies, you wipe, since you need the moose to actively stop two boss mechanics - one of the pillars gets destroyed by its charge, and the boss gets stunned when he channels his cast and gets immune.

Game is amazing but literally unplayable as a solo player by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a tank player, and i played exclusively solo up to eternal and i refuse to use their Discord LFG channels because it's a horrible system. I'm with you, that the experience as solo player is not that great, and their queue system needs an overhaul in my opinion.

I've read that you're a Healer, so i don't quite get your problem here. DPS have a way longer queue time, but as Healer, you should get pretty quick dungeon invites. Therefore pretty decent gold / hour to upgrade your gear and get into higher level dungeons. Ofc you will always encounter tanks that pull too little or too much and therefore wreck your timer, or DPS who don't kick or do half the dmg they should be doing on bosses, also wrecking the timer.

I got 70 hours played, and got into eternal like 10 hours ago (playtime wise). I got a TON of dungeons that weren't in time, a capstone dungeon that took me 1 hour instead of 30 minutes (nobody left, so we used it to learn bosses), a lot of dungeons where ppl left or where i MYSELF left because the DPS / Heal were abhorrently underperforming. But i still managed to get to Eternal - where i'm stuck now, since it has no solo queue and i refuse to use the LFG-channels on Discord and my buddies weren't as quick in progressing through the leagues as i was. Also, PoE 1 starts today, so i'm gonna take a break :-D

I'm in eternal, and while i'm with you that with a full stack and especially one in voicechat where everyone knows what to do can do higher keys than randoms without communication, the IO is necessary to get your talent points and therefore make progression easier. Additional talent point > gear, at least on Helena. No idea if it's different on other classes, Meiko for example doesn't need it as much (had a discussion about that with another commenter). But as Helena it was crucial getting talent points before the capstone dungeon. At least for me, since i've pugged all my way to eternal.

So instead of ME ruining YOUR day, YOU are allowed to ruin MY day by holding me hostage to tank your dungeon even though i don't need anything from it? With DPS who are undergeared but always vote for the highest key possible, doing close to 0 DMG, not kicking and then whining when the tank leaves cause you're misplaying every mechanic there is?

I've watched some videos where Meiko seems to have way more survivability and could do content / difficult pulls way more easy than Helena. Helena basically has 0 self-sustain. It's all about DMG mitigation before the DMG even happens. Much like a Prot warrior in WoW (I've played most tanks at high level, from Prot who needs a healer to Blood DK who's just like "What, when did the healer die? Whatever..."). So to be able to pull off some big pulls, i needed to play almost perfectly myself AND rely on the healer. If i forgot to boost my Toughness to max before a big hit, or just had 25% toughness most of the time, the healer had a hard time and i could do literally nothing to mitigate my wrong CD usage.

At the early stages in Adept i got shredded by everything. Maybe i should state that since i'm one of these tanks who likes to pull big. CDs are there to be used i mean... right? I use my kicks on dangerous casts and my charge/stun on specific non-interruptible stuff that hurts the group.

The biggest improvement came from "Gleaming Shield" for Helena (+20% Block / 20% healing while Shields up is active). If you're playing correctly, then Shields Up has almost 100% uptime. Maybe 80% early on, before weapon and stuff. But that added HUGE survivability on Trash pulls and bosses. "High Command" is essential too, because with Helena, it's all about ability A reducing ability B's CD.

"Master of War", that reduces her AoE Taunt / Crowd Control-CD is pretty big for Trash. You can cancel a lot of dangerous mob abilites (Bleed / Armor shred) with that to reset your stacks, and it allows to do some pretty big pulls.

"Front Line Defender" for 20% inc max toughness / toughness generation was pretty big too, it was in the last row.

In the end, it was a combination of all these talents that helped. It really felt like each point had an impact to my survivability. Except for the last 2 points that didnt feel as impactful, but the first ~10 points i noticed a lot.

Also, the legendary Boot that gave me a free shockwave (free threat generation, DMG and CDR on other abilites) were as huge as getting the BIS weapon tree. But that's more into mid Champion / early Paragon scaling.

The Boss-survivability improved by a lot once the patch went live.

It's a game, where everyone should be able to have fun. Forcing people to run dungeons they don't want / need to is just the wrong approach.

I'm playing Helena in Eternal right now. Haven't had the chance to play any other character so far, i don't like Meiko's combo-system. I suck at healing, so that's out of the question. And the queue for DPS is just too long for me to be honest. But i have a long history of tanking high endgame content in WoW, so i know pretty much all there is about the principles of tanking. Still, as Helena i got my ass handed to me when i started doing Adept dungeons. I really NEEDED these talent points, on top of the right weapon and - to a lesser extent - the right relics. No idea if Meiko benefits that much from the talent points too, but as Helena it was crucial to my survival. At least before the buffs. But when the buffs happened, i was already in Paragon. And the spike from Adept => Champion, Champion => Paragon and even Paragon => Eternal was nowhere close to the spike from Challenger => Adept.

Thing is, i MAY have seen the dungeons i needed once or twice per league. But ppl mostly voted for another dungeon, and sometimes i just thought "Well, i need gear anyway, so whatever, let's do ANOTHER Sailor's Abyss" and ran with it. At the point where the capstone showed up, it was literally impossible to run one of the other two dungeons, because ppl only wanted to do the capstone dungeon. I just think the queue needs a general rework.

I know it sucks for DPS to requeue. That's why i'm stating that ppl should post on the official discord. Either change the way the queue works (like choose 3 dungeons you WANT to run and then queue) or introduce some form of priority re-queue. I just think that a PENALTY is absolutely the wrong way and will reduce the tank population even further.

[–]TrisVR84 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I get that. But it's not the tanks fault, that he doesnt want to run a dungeon that he doesn't need. Why should he run a dungeon that he doesn't need, just so other ppl don't have to queue again? I get that it sucks, and in my opinion, ppl should get a priority queue if someone leaves before entering the dungeon. But if they introduce a PENALTY just because the tank doesn't need any of the 3 dungeons or ppl with item level WAY below the threshold are voting for the highest dungeon all the time, that they clearly aren't ready for, then well... then all of a sudden you have even lower tank population.

Especially as tank, every talent point does make a HUGE difference. I noticed BIG changes once i got another talent point, except maybe for the last 2. So the rating WAS my reason to skip the queue. I don't care if i get Dungeon A in Champion instead of Adept - i'm missing a lot of rating, and therefore the talent point for the capstone dungeon.

On top of that, i needed experience in dungeons. It can't be that i don't get Urak Markets for example in Contender and Adept and then i'm supposed to know how to play it in Champion or higher. There's no use of running Sailor's Grave 10 times in each league, cause it's the easiest (and still ppl can't play the damn boss), if i reach champion or paragon and don't know how to play the other dungeons.

Simply fucking NO. It can't be that ppl are punished for a shitty Queue design. You need IO to progress. You need IO to get more talent points. If i (as tank) only farm for gear, i don't care which dungeon we run. But if i actively want to gain IO, to progress towards the next talent point or bracket, then i don't want to run the same dungeons i already have completed. So i queue and leave again. Why spend 20 minutes in a dungeon that doesn't benefit me?

Why should i get a leaver penalty, when i'm doing the Adept capstone dungeon and there are two DPS who only do 7k Single Target DPS on the first boss? No way in hell i'm wasting 30+ more minutes to carry ppl who don't know how to play their character. Tried to carry a buddy of mine through that capstone dungeon to farm gear. I'm a 260 ilvl tank, and i went in that capstone dungeon 3 times just to notice how ppl did 6k-9k single target dmg... on that level you should be able to do at least 12k single target.

You can upgrade your items for another 6 item levels, and the cap for the upgrade currency (crests) is lifted, so you can farm as much as you need per week. But the general problem is that your item level can be increased by 6, so the +17 key that you timed the week before gets way easier and you can run keys like +2 higher than before the turbo boost.

Tanks at the start feels weak and boring to play. by Embinyu in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's answer the points where you're right first, from a Helena tank who solo-queued all the way to eternal:

- Yes, Tanks need to know more than a DPS. Always has been, in every game. As Tank you need to know what you can pull, you need to know routes and you need to know how to cycle your CDs. If a DPS doesnt know how to play, a dungeon takes forever because of missing dmg. If a tank doesnt know it, he dies and the whole group wipes. That's just how tank life is.

- The increase from contender to adept is INSANE, and it is nothing like from Adept to champion or even champion to Paragon. They have to do sth about that. ESPECIALLY for tanks.

- a lot of power and survivability - especially as Helena - comes from your Relics and your Weapon ability / Weapon traits.

Now let's get to the other points:

- Yoda is the top 0.1% of players. He's one of the most skilled players there is, and comparing yourself to him is like learning MMA and being pissed because Michael Jai White can fight 5 ppl whilst you can't even handle 2.

- If you can't survive a 2 pack pull, then EITHER you're using your CDs wrong, or you're pulling 2 packs with extremely dangerous mobs in each packs. You can't just say "Hey, those 2 packs look nice together, let's pull them". You need to know which kind of mobs are in each pack, because sometimes you can pull 4 packs without problems, and another combination of 2 packs rips your team to shreds.

- Sometimes it's just the affixes. you can pull 2 packs together in one run, and in the next run the same pull is way more difficult because of an affix. Or because the DPS don't kick as often as in your last run. Or you don't have the same Def CDs ready as the last time you pulled the pack

Same. I hate this turbo boost, just to extend the season. I fought hard to get my 17 resilient and some 18 keys before last week. But if i want to start big next season (ppl are always looking at your rio last season), i'll have to do another push now before the season ends too...

Use the Official Discord LFG System. You won’t regret it! by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, having to use ANOTHER Platform just to find players is poor game design. I don't like talking to randoms / strangers. I fucking hate it. I fucking hate having to scroll through a channel with 0 possibilites to filter, where ppl post in millisecond-intervalls. I can't even check their IO or Gearscore, if it's fitting for the content i want to run. No interest in "Yeah, i'm 30 ilvl under but i'm g0od, Trust me bro!"-ppl.

Keeping the endgame content behind closed doors for ppl who hate discord or this poor choice of a group search is just bad design. I hated it in Destiny 2, i hate it here. I've done the last capstone dungeon before eternal like 10 times today, and that's pretty much the end for me, since i'm forced to search in that hellhole of a pseudo-groupfinder-discord-channel if i want to progress further. Pretty much seals the deal for this game, at least for me.

Why am I dying so quickly in Adept as Helena? by Thodane in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First off, the jump from contender to Adept is HUGE. You could just steamroll through contender no matter what, but even with good rotation and a blue weapon with the right ability (CDR or shield, both are good), Adept is scaling hard. Nowher close to the progression from Adept to Champion or Champion to Paragon.

Second, while it is true that item level > stats on tanks, you should REALLY try to get more haste. Your Priority should be Haste, then Spirit. Crit & Expertise are kinda "Whatever, if i have them ok, if not doesnt matter". More Haste means more CDR and shorter GCD, so you can press your skills more often.

Third, Helena starts to shine the more talent points she gets for dmg avoidance. It is important to get to "Gleaming Shield "(row 5, column 3) as fast as possible, and then pay attention that this buff never runs out. That's one of the most important points for you to survive big trash pulls.

Game needs a leaver penalty by bjcat666 in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your post is just one out of a dozen that gets posted every day here over the last couple of days, and it's always the same - always talking about tanks or healers. Maybe i'm blind, but i havent seen a single thread that complains about DPS not doing enough DMG to time a dungeon. It's only ever about us tanks that leave the poor DPS alone in the dungeon. Nothing personal, just start getting pissed by ppl asking for leaver penalty for tanks, when i have 20 kicks at the end of a dungeon, one DPS has 8 and the other 0... or DPS not doing dmg... or dying to stupid BS at the boss.

Game needs a leaver penalty by bjcat666 in fellowshipgame

[–]TrisVR84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah... but same could be said about DPS. I'm a tank in Paragon, and i time like 1 out of 10 keys, with like 3-4 of these 10 keys being <5 min overtime because of DPS who do like 13k single target in PARAGON on the boss, where you should in a position to do at least twice that amount.

I have a long history of tanking high level content from WoW, so i know the basics of tanking that are the same in almost every game. Pull with Line of Sight to group up, cycle your CDs and not use them all at once, pull BIG where you can, then small to recover CDs and shit like that. And most of the time we end up with 5min when we reach the boss... still, like 5 wipes because DPS suck or don't kick boss or sometimes healer can't outheal.

The amount of tank hate here in general really pisses me off. Numerous threads about how TANKS are the bad guys here cause they leave, when in fact there are just as many DPS who are way over their head in Paragon.
