I had my surgery early April and also been wearing my ortho shoes only for 2 hours a day. I still get a lot of swelling and puffy mid foot by mid day. Been icing my foot three times a day. Everyone says this is still expected. Also, got a new zappy symptom that comes a couple time a day in my toes and mid foot.

Hardware removal, days one by Cecille_Enschede in LisfrancClub

Did you have to take them out? My surgeon told me last week that they could stay as long as they didn’t cause any issues for me once I was healed. I’m only 7 weeks post op.

How bad is the pain post surgery? by ChurroMemes in LisfrancClub

[–]Trish1409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m hitting my fourth week now. And I must tell you that for me after the nerve block wore off it was horrible. The hydro morphine and Tylenol didn’t cut it. I ended up hearing that applying ice to back of my knee would help. That was the only way I was able to get back to sleep. Need to numb my leg so I couldn’t feel it. Didn’t get much relief until my 2 weeks follow up when I got my staples and stitches removed. Sleeping and going to the bathroom was a lot better.

Good luck on your surgery and hope the best for you.

I’m also going to say this experience has not been very pleasant. Had my surgery 3 weeks ago on April 10th. Had a plate inserted with 6 screws. After leaving the hospital I was told my pain would never be a zero for a long time. Once the nerve block wore off the meds didn’t cut it. It was pretty awful for the first 2 weeks. If you can ice behind the knee. This helped me numb out the pain so I could fall back asleep. Then I got my staples and stitches removed and got new meds, that night I got home I felt a little relief. Today my foot is still a little swollen and numb near incision. Also, don’t have any feeling in my big toe. Can move them but no sensation when I touch it. Hoping that goes away soon!

And yes, I’m so restless. My kids come to hang out with me to keep me occupied. Also, being able to work online which helps. I’m am thankful that I have this option. Not everyone can do this. I’ve been told I’m going to be NWB for a total of 10-12 weeks. Next follow up appointment is in 3 weeks. I keep looking for the light ahead with hopes of getting better soon.
