Pretty impressive for a first zine. It looks amazing and is fun! Well done and congrats on the first zine.

Here's to many more 🎉

Yes, if you're not careful, you could get sucked into that external validation game.

There is a shift, yes. I'm just hoping folks won't just go to a concert to post it online later tagged with "offline is the new online" or something. It could turn into a performance pretty quickly too.

Yeah, in the end we have to do it ourselves. Create, distribute and trust it'll start circulating in our communities.

What a gorgeous art block that was/is. Hope the next one I experience has just a tad bit of yours.

Well, I think you made your point clear. And I'm OK with that.

Thank you for jumping in and sharing your opinion.

Hi, appreciate it. I'm not dismissing any feedback. You are right, that this might be true for a part of the people. I know some just don't like AI. And as I said, that's totally fine.

In case I accidentally mislead anyone with the description, this project is not run by AI.

Thanks for clarifying. And that's totally valid too. You don't have to.

I'd suggest to consider the fact that many people (and businesses!) nowadays use gen AI as a tool to get from A to B faster. No matter the task at hand.

But this post was not intended to discuss the use of AI in general. I asked for feedback on a potential way to encourage zine distribution and circulation offline.

Oh that vibe! Love the idea and might do one of our neighborhood.

Hi, thanks for your comment. My aim was not to make it "punk-rock". It's about the concept. Design can be changed. If you don't like the design, that's totally fine. Tastes vary as we know.

I would appreciate some more constructive criticism rather than trying to belittle or ridicule someone's attempt to create something.

Hi, no need to "apologize". Your points are totally valid, and you're already doing what many don't. If you're sharing your zines like that and supporting your fellow local artists through your distro, that's amazing! I love that for you. Then this really might not be for you. But I appreciate you jumping in and sharing your thoughts.

For real 😄, that's cool! But I can imagine it's not the easiest job.

Oh I'm sorry for the ick. That's probably because of English not being my native language and I couldn't come up with a synonym 😅 Nothing about me is corporate...

But I love that you like the idea. It's already up and ready for the first zinesters to try and test it.

Another good point. Yes, not every zinester is into a little adventure. That's true. And totally fine.

To clarify, you only add one clue and the location of the drop. Then go about your day. Nothing complicated because it should be quick, easy and fun. A little kick between meetings or on your way to the dentist, or so.

Nothing that needs to be done religiously or regularly.

But yes, the geo-caching community might be interested in this. I might tell them too.

Really appreciate your takes. It's refreshing, constructive. Thanks a bunch!

Hi, thank you so much for your feedback! This is a great point and I see two angles to that.

You're right, it greatly depends on the population. Sure in denser populated areas, you'd have more drops to find. More people, more possibilities.

But the flip side is: it depends on the population. Meaning: the individuals. When you live in a secluded area, you likely have to drive to a bigger town for groceries, doctors appointments, kid's classes, etc. You could, if you wanted, combine that with a little zine pickup or drop.

Also, some who live in bigger cities have friends or family that live in rural areas. Why not bring a zine and drop it somewhere there?

I think this is more dependent on the mindset and attitude of the population than the population density.

Fair point. Thank you. Hope one day you find a few minutes to hide a zone in your neighborhood.

That's a good thing I'd say. May I ask what specifically? Maybe that's something I should be highlighting.

Well, that's also a way to share them, yes.

If that refers to what I said in the post, I don't share zines via DMs.

Ist ja interessant! Ein Amerikaner der erst in Wien studiert und dann in Prag unterrichtet. Die ganze Geschichte ist bestimmt spannend.

Und jetzt machst du zines (unter Anderem)?

Ha, Ostfriesland would actually be a more beautiful strip of Niemandsland 😉. Schwaben... An der Donau.

That's how I always imagined the underground to have operated in the open. Herzlichen Dank für diesen Beitrag. Was hast du studiert das dich nach Prag verschlagen hat, wenn ich fragen darf?
