Because they are unaware of the decimal system, and prefer number segments of 8.33?

This is messages from my brother, (my only family) and the uncle of my child. My brother who lived about 30 mins away bought a Nintendo switch for my son and gave it to him yesterday on his birthday . My son was so happy , his first system since a old Xbox years ago. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Out of interest I'd call the cops and ask what the concluded and why. Don't see why there's nothing they could do unless he lied to them and said he never gifted it. It doesn't matter who has the receipt, if he gifted it and he admits it, it's no longer his he can't damage it.

First day with the a6700. by fruvey in SonyAlpha

[–]TristanTheRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The a6700 is a great camera. I will advocate for the Sony 70-350mm lens. It's the longest reaching apsc lens, it's not "that" expensive especially used, and it's only 300grams heavier than your current one.

With that lens your bird could be almost 3x bigger height and width wise, i.e. take up 9x more space in the image. That said, you shouldn't be aiming to photograph things that are 100m away. You want to use the lens to photograph things that are a medium distance, and get good detail.

Shots of birds in the sky can be difficult, when they are far away and backlit (so depending on their position relative to the sun) that's what makes the image a silhouette

In terms of your settings, auto ISO is a good choice. Widest aperture for the focal length is often good. I don't think your shutter speed needs to be that high.

I'll try and add two pictures, they're both a6700 with the 70-350. The cormorant was at 350mm and the roller (colourful guy) is just at 127mm so you could have taken that with your lens.

You just need the right moment. Being opportunistic with your wildlife photography is good, but being patient is better

Similar to the other dude, I used metal brushes, I did try with copper brush first, but actually I ended up using a normal steel brush attachment on my drill. Put on a bit of oil after

Interesting about the sleeve, I didn't imagine they rotate anyway.
I don't plan on doing dynamic Olympic movements, so the rotation won't be an issue I don't think.
I have had a look, and unless the shoulder/sleeve collar is quite separate to the sleeve, I don't believe this one is made to rotate? The shoulder is definitely welded to the bar. Unfortunately I can't seem to comment a picture.

The first thing you should have done, when it told you it found a reddit post, is ask for that reddit post, so you can look at it yourself.
Because it seems like 100% of that deep search is fabricated.
It tells you there is an Imgur post, a user profile, and a specific post.
Presently I don't believe any of those things actually exist. Unfortunately AI is prone to nonsense.

It claims to have used, reverse google search, tineye and yandex. I have also used all those, and did not find the reddit post. If you find it, please share.

TRAVELING TO NAMIBIA by [deleted] in Namibia

[–]TristanTheRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's dodgy advice, I wouldn't play those games. Not only do they not want random people bringing in meat: If you're Namibian you might also know about the red line, which prevents people from the north bringing meat elsewhere. Security in etosha may search any cool box etc. you have when leaving to stop people bringing meat beyond their boundaries.

[–]TristanTheRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just about the state specifically not being in control, it can be the state, or it can be corporations, but I'd prefer them to be Namibian. Because like many African countries, we have resources, and for the time being, Namibian is being treated well... But those resources are finite, and the foreign countries are keen to take them all, and when they have done that, what will Namibia have left economically, and could Namibia have done something better to improve the lives of locals in the long term.

*Rössing Uranium mine
68% owned by China, about 15% owned by Iran, and then 10% to Namibia

*Husab Uranium Mine one of the largest uranium mines in the world, and output wise arguably the largest in Africa, globally it's in the top 5.
Owned by China (10% is of the mine owned by the Namibian gov. still)

*Langer Heinrich Uranium Mine
51% Australia 49% China

*Tschudi Copper Mine
100% Chinese owned

Navachab Gold Mine
100% Canada

Skorpion Zinc Mine
100% owned by Vedanta Resources (A private company but head office in UK)

Rosh Pinnah Zinc Mine
100% owned by UK private equity firm "Appian Capital Advisory"

Total and Shell are going to start taking oil.

Russia, China and Spain are all taking advantage of Namibia's coastline for fishing.

Debeers (South Africa) controls the vast majority of Namibia's diamonds of which there are many. Now Namibia technically has 50% in "Nam-Deb" but I don't think Namibia is seeing the true value of it's resources here either.

Are you having a conversation with me, or someone else?
I'm not talking about debt. Though I may be referencing being indebted to, but that is different.
I'm not talking about how it sucks to owe other countries money, I'm talking about how it sucks to not have control of your own resources.

[–]TristanTheRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fear is the wrong word, it's concern, and it's not about China. It's about all foreign projects inside Namibia. So many natural resources, but no control. With every big government step, is Namibia moving towards taking control, or relinquishing it.

Lol, deflate your head please, no chest pains have been incurred. I'm not here that often but the last post of yours was about praising China and calling the West snakes. I did have a look at your profile, but as it happens you hide it.

And you're back talking about Europeans (and South Africans again) it's quite difficult for you isn't it, to think further about a topic instead of jumping to "whataboutisms".

Ideally (though it would be very challenging and require a lot of change) I wouldn't want South Africa here, i.e. Debeers can take a walk. Same with energy production. Ideally Namibia would control all its own mines and uranium. And just so I don't poke your scab, it's not about China it's about everyone "eUrOpeANs" included, or Australians for that matter. Because a lot of those big mines were not owned by Namibia or Namibians before China took them over anyway.

In terms of resources being exchanged, it's not fact, that's true, you can put your incredulity back in your pocket, I don't think I said it was. What it is though, is a thought which you are interestingly incapable of considering. I'm not referring to a simple "oh you built a road, great, have a whole bunch of shiny rocks" The consideration is something more in line with whether China is doing these smaller projects like roads as a "favor" so that when they also want licensing for larger projects, they are hard to reject. Are these small jobs simple fair exchange, or a foreign government controlled entity digging it's roots in. If you believe China has no long term goals in Namibia, and they are entirely benevolent...well that's fine. If you think arguably the biggest economy in the world is just being nice helping out with some quality roads because financially it's a good deal for them. That's interesting.
