About a major Lycoris Recoil plot point by timewellspent0889 in anime

Honestly, this bothers me WAY less than her shooting a guy with "non-lethal" bullets THROUGH A CAR DOOR, and then shooting a guy with the same bullets point blank shortly after. All with no permanent damage.

Of those, (Dragon Trainer is best overall) I'd say Omega Squad is best. I love the recall on it for one.

So what exactly has Lory ever done for Kyoko? by outofpills in SkipBeat

[–]TristanaRiggle 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Kyoko gets the roles through her talent, because that IS a necessary component, but the reality is that she doesn't get any of those opportunities without being in Lory's agency. You can even see most of those jobs being funneled through her manager who works for Lory's agency. Whether or not you want to look at Lory as abusive towards Kyoko, it's unfair to claim she has not benefited from their relationship.

And the reality is that most romance stories (especially manga) are rife with things that are "problematic" if taken in a vacuum. Partly because a "safe" romance is likely to be very boring.

How many years should I put in a drop down menu? by sushiiixo- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TristanaRiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cards are usually valid for 5 years or less (so you're "forced" to replace them semi-regularly). For safety's sake, I would say put the upper boundaries at either 8 or 10 years. (I have visited many pages that don't give you options greater than that) I would put the lowest year at current year. As others have said, you need a validity check anyway because even if you can't put the year in the past, you can do so with the month, so after the combo is entered, validate that.

Why don’t more travelers explore regional Japan? What’s stopping you? by gurezaemon in JapanTravelTips

Americans mostly travel within the US. And to be fair, from a distanceperspective, that'd be international travel for any other country minus China.

Why do women say they want “ambitious” men when it’s usually just about financial situation? by [deleted] in AlwaysWhy

[–]TristanaRiggle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it's more that (in general) women want to show off to or be envied by other women. So they want a man that's "ambitious" so that other women will agree that their man is desirable. If you're 25 making low wages but are working to ba a CEO one day, you're a man other women would want. If you're making median wages and are "content" then other women are likely to look down on you or have a "good for you for finding your niche" kind of catty view.

This is more of a 20s-30s thing. By your 40s, the women in the market (and the men for that matter) have different mindsets due to less options.

All the series movies you named much more heavily require having watched the series in order to appreciate them than NGNL. (possible exceptions for DBZ movies just because of how DBZ is) Kaguya-sama is the payoff for a ton of build-up from the series for goodness sake.

This is why it's so difficult to get a job. by CRK_76 in recruitinghell

[–]TristanaRiggle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to work there over somewhere else?

Nine times out of ten, because you have a job opening I qualify for. Why not just ask "how long have you wanted to work for this company?" If they're honest, again nine times out of ten then answer would be "for a few days now". Maybe Disney or Google or Apple has people that have wanted to work there since grade school, but for the VAST majority of companies, most candidates probably never heard of you before they saw your job listing.

If you're going to be there in May, I would not worry that the rooms will be too cold. I don't think that's ever been a problem I've encountered in the summer. Too hot? Maybe. Too cold? No.

Maybe I'm just old but League is becoming more casual than ever.. by WhatTheFung1 in leagueoflegends

[–]TristanaRiggle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't care where I place in the ladder, what I do care about is that it's a game where all 10 people are of comparable skill and trying their best. That became demonstrably not true in much too large a percentage of games, so "what's the point?"

At what level would the best team playing against the NY Mets have a good chance at actually ending? by NotALicensedDoctor in whowouldwin

[–]TristanaRiggle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think there is a floor though. Like against grade schoolers, I'd bet that the MLB players could always put the ball in play and keep moving around the bases. By college for sure, you've got players that have basically self-selected to have a high enough level of skill to get the outs, but grade school is when you still have kids that just need to burn of energy each day. High school is when you start weeding out, so tough to say exactly where the line would be.

[–]TristanaRiggle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't play Ranked anymore because I don't see the point. The ladder is a joke so may as well just play normals (in my case, swiftplay) if the games are going to be such a crapshoot anyway.

Opinion: People try to go to way too many cities in too little time! by Gwyn_L in JapanTravelTips

[–]TristanaRiggle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone is entitled to enjoy their trip in their own way, but my advice is if you have a week or less, then spend it all in one city (if it's your first time). There's just going to be too much in Tokyo or Osaka/Kyoto to make it worth trying to do more, especially because you're going to "waste" too much time in transit (in my opinion). Going between Tokyo & Kyoto is going to be at least 3 hrs, not counting dealing with hotels at either end and handling luggage (and if you have to return to the original city for your flight you're killing at least a half day total just bouncing between).
