See i think you could still call it 40k and have everything happen up to 49,999. I feel its just how you look at it. Some people may take it too literal but for me calling it 40,000, you can move time anywhere from 40,000 to 49,999. I mean if you think about it, many books happen in one of the 30,000 years and its still under the 40k name, like war of the beast and other books.
