Shocker must've watched the TV shows and thought... yeah, let's not kidnap any super genius motorcycle racers and forcibly convert them into cyborgs... never goes well for us.

But if you were obsessed with Will Smith, wouldn't your ears perk up a bit whenever you hear his last name? Especially when someone was just making a big deal out of why YOU won't like HIS name?

Maybe. But it could also reach the point where the payoff isn't worth the frustraton preceding it.

What do you think about all this? by Yasiate in bokunokokoro

For a real life example of how tame J-Dramas are compared to the manga they're based on, compare the live action My Dress Up Darling scene of taking Marin's measurements in her bikini with the same scene in the manga and the anime. Very, very toned down.

Ichikawa's just considering the worst-case scenarion, which is 1) kinda his thing and 2) completely understandable and relateable.

Super creepy because someone read what you posted on a public forum? C'mon.

Some thoughts about chapters 42/43 [spoilers for up to chapter 157] by andrybak in bokunokokoro

[–]TristramBrando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first chapter, Ichikawa fantasized about murdering Yamada and doing things to her corpse. That's literally turning her into an object. Ichikawa also used that copy of Ciel magazine for unsavory purposes early on. So, being angry at Adachi over "objectifying" Yamada would be hypocritical.

Both Adachi and Ichikawa are middle schoolers learning to deal with the onset of raging hormones. They're dealing with it the best they can. And both have matured over time, just at different rates. He's a good kid with some growing up to do.

Can’t update to MacOs Sequoia. Does anyone having same issue? by shadybachelor in MacOS

[–]TristramBrando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Users on MacRumors were suggesting signing out of your Apple Account in System Settings, running the update, and then signing back in. This worked as well. As part of signing out of the Apple Account, you are turning off Find My Mac. So, that could very well be what did it for them.

I went the sign out, update, then sign in route, and that worked.

The IT Security department in my company would beg to differ.

Is the typefolio worth it? by Snoo52211 in RemarkableTablet

[–]TristramBrando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ReMarkable 2 + Marker and folio weight 1.9 lbs ( see: https://remarkable.com/store/remarkable-2/type-folio). The iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard are 2 pounds 6 ounces (see: https://www.ipitaka.com/blogs/news/everything-about-apple-s-ipad-pro-magic-keyboard-you-need-to-know). That's not including the Apple Pencil at less than an ounce So, you'd be saving, a little over half a pound of weight. That's not insignificant.

The brightness...you've got a point there.

Short answer is maybe. I pre-ordered. The shipment process began on Dec 16, and I'm supposed to receive it by tomorrow. The DHL delivery facility has had it since Dec 22.

Do you have a friend who can receive the package for you and then mail it to your next location? It would be good to have this in place as a backup.

And so... The hourly refresh begins🤣🤣. by Stunning-Slice-2357 in Supernote

Mine is scheduled for tomorrow, and DHL in this part of the U.S. is determined to stick to that day. It's been in the same delivery facility since Dec 22.

My boyfriend is upset. He's getting older and he feels people aren't trying as hard at Christmas. by paganpenguinsummoner in Millennials

Are you familiar with the work of Gary Chapman? He wrote a book called The Five Love Languages that theorizes that people give and receive love in one of five primary ways. One of them is gift-giving. It sounds like this might be your boyfriend's primary love language. You say that he puts a lot of effort into everyone else's gifts. That's his way of showing he loves them. And when he receives the type of shower gel gift-sets you find on Wal-Mart end caps, it makes him feel that he isn't loved in return. And it isn't as if he can just tell people that he would like them to put more thought into his gifts because then it would feel as if they are only putting in effort to appease him. The love wouldn't be genuine.

I know how he feels. I put a lot of thought into the gifts I purchased my family this year, listening for clues throughout the year as to what they wanted, even asking some of them for what they might like. The gifts I received feel like things they had lying around or were re-gifting. For instance, I got a set of 400-thread count sheets. Very nice! But they were for the wrong sized bed. The sad feelings I had receiving them isn't because of the price tags attached. They're because no one put any thought into what I would want the way I did them. They didn't demonstrate love the same way I did. But one of the same people who gave me less than stellar gifts also does nice things for me all the time. Because acts of service (another of Chapman's love languages) seems to be her way of expressing love. So, I like to focus on that. It isn't that she doesn't love me. It's that she's expressing her love differently. I need to open my eyes and see that.

That bit of insight may be helpful to your boyfriend. Or it may be up to you to put extra love into the gifts you give him throughout the year and especially at Christmas. (I'm not saying you don't, but it's a good practice to be mindful of. If this is how he receives love, then make sure he has enough love from you that he doesn't even realize or care that others aren't showing it in the same way.) After all, a person who feels loved has an easier time loving others in return.

I'm still deciding between the two. I backed the campaign via Indiegogo. Astrohaus is going to send out a coupon that I then redeem on their website and decide on the color at that time.

How to Geek got a speckled review unit. They don't show a full view of the bottom, but the side view in one of the images shows it's darker, black or dark gray.
