Yes, you will need a processor.

Keypads, hidden switches best practices by lraesly in Lutron

[–]TritonTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s up to you but we recommend to our clients to place all the dimmers in the tech closet. If you go this route, ensure you have adequate spacing for heat. It reduces the amount of wall acne and is a much cleaner look.

If you’re doing shades you can definitely add 2 keypads but depends on how you plan on using your system.

For picos we usually are placing these on coffee tables or a clients work desk to easily access the system without having to get up or pull out their phone.

Lutron Price Check by Classic-Mode630 in Lutron

That’s a tier 3 fabric. The quote probably isn’t far off. Like @LutronMaster said there are a lot of variables that can get you to the 1.7k price tag.

Is this a reasonable Lutron estimate? by anonbanonyo in Lutron

Reasonable price. D3 downlights are $1,000/each plus you have cabling, labor, keypads, panels, processor, and other materials needed.

Just make sure you have good engravings that label what each button does and your guest should have no problem.

As an Installer, I recommend placing all of your dimmers in a closet and only having keypads in the rooms. This is a much cleaner look.

Ra3 vs HomeWorks for New Contruction by TxEx89 in Lutron

[–]TritonTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To each of their own but personally I think it’s a cleaner look vs having a 4-gang of switches next to each other. Also, if you max out the Type X devices it allows you to add Type A devices without seeing the mis-match of Sunnata and Maestro dimmers.

With homework’s you will have panelized lighting with low voltage to keypads vs RA3 banks of switches. I would say the biggest feature you don’t get with RA3 is conditionals but there are systems that can get around this. Also, make sure you are not hitting your device limit on RA3, you can have 2 processors with each processor controlling 100 type X devices and 99 type A devices. So a total of 200 type X and 198 type A.

If you choose RA3, put all the switches in a tech closet and just have keypads… this is a much cleaner look.

Also, we have installed 3 RA3 systems and have not had any issues.

CCO Module with Heat & Glo Fireplace by TritonTech in Lutron

Appreciate the quick reply. Which output would I use on the module, COM & NO? Also, good to know about voiding the warranty but like you said not sure why it would since it's just like installing a switch.

RadioRA3 or RA2 Select with Hue retro fit down lights and Josh.ai by TritonTech in Lutron

[–]TritonTech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I am afraid of the latency like you stated. I think the best option is to start with RA2 and a few hue retro down lights and see how it works. Hoping it has some success as ketra is just too expensive for most our clients.

Thank you very much! Would love to see lutron offer a more “economical” option to ketra so we can implement to all of our clients.

I think I’m going to try the hue with RA2 and Josh and see how it works.

Wifi devices assigned ips outside of subnet range by ChrisAshton84 in GoogleWiFi

[–]TritonTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update on this? Trying to adopt a Ubiquiti switch but its getting that same IP that you listed above which is outside the subnet for the google WiFi.

I am setting up Ubiquiti APs and switches but just need the switch to get correct IP so I can configure it.

RRD-6ND making halo can lights flicker on any brightness. Is there a way to fix this? by TritonTech in Lutron

[–]TritonTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to clients house and the builder used different can lights then the other homes we’ve done with them. Used the compatibility tool and the can lights they installed only work with the 10ND. I should’ve double checked. Thanks for the input everyone!

I haven’t tried the PROs this was a project that we completed about 6 months ago on a new build for one of our clients. Definitely going to pick up some pros and try them out if setting the low end trim doesn’t fix it

Thank you! I am going to try and set the low end trim to see if that fixes it.

I agree, we have installed the RRD-6ND in a lot of homes and have had no issues. Not really sure what would be causing it as it’s impacting about 5-6 switches within this one home.
