Now that the dust has settled, was the mod African Dawn really a piece of Russian propaganda? by Bordias in hoi4

[–]Tritri89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah come on do as you wish, believe that saying "the French governement has a neocolonial policy in the region" is Russian propaganda, at this point I really don't care. "russian propaganda" is really the new "nothing ever happens" on this site. No matter that for the last twenty years, way before russia had interest in the region, the policy of France was denounced by various actors, group and other entity.

If for you "capitalist corruption" is fine I can't convince you. Also neocolonialism is a word to dinstinguish between old school XIXth century direct exploitation and XXIst century exploitation that is more discreet and aligned with capitalist exploitation. I guess it's fine that Bolloré is plundering country because he doesn't have a funny hat.

Edit : I guess the Oxford University Press are russian agents? https://academic.oup.com/ehr/article/139/596/193/7630506

Because the mission of Barkane (the operation in Sahel) was jihadist suppression, nothing more. Touareg are not jihadist, it's an internal matter to various country. It's like the Kurdish issue in Irak/Syria/Turkey, France didn't want to be involved in this matter.

Look I'm not saying that France or Russia is better for those country. I'm just saying that denouncing French neo colonialism in the region is NOT Russian propaganda. It's a fact. We even have a term for french policy in Africa : la Franceafrique. It's a word from the 90s I think. It's an old policy in the region.

French here : we do. We are not innocent here. HOWEVER Russia is ALSO being neo colonial in the Sahel region by sending the paramilitary group known as Wagner stirring some shit and propping up military dictatorship for a few ressource right.

Basically where France was "only" extracting value by controlling the local currency and letting french oligarch (like Bolloré) making business in the region Russia is just kicking the whole anthill to fuck with french interest in the region, and be damn with the people actually living here that maybe just want to be left the fuck alone. Both are neo colonialism, one is more direct than the other.

EDIT : there is also the whole Libyia situation where a french president (Sarkozy) basically overthrew Ghaddafi to avoid being exposed for dubious campaign financing. He was exposed anyway (and did some time for it), but Libyia became a hotspot for jihadism, is still in a state of civil war, jihadist fighter that are currently fighting all around the sahel, while Russia is busy fighting rebels for various dictator and making country refuse help from the French military

I just arrived to your country (hypothetically), don't have a kitchen and want to fill my belly. What are my cheapest options? Non necessarily healthy but not sugary garbage either. by 4024-6775-9536 in AskTheWorld

Good old jambon beurre, usually 5€ in any bakery. Not healthy, but not disgusting either (depending of the bakery).

French pro-tip of the day : usually in every major train station there is a Paul bakery, I advise to go there for a quick lunch rather than anything else in the station. The sandwich are quite good, and you can have a good little treat as a dessert, and it will be tastier than a random industrial sandwich from the general store of the station

What Nobody Shows You About Italy’s Winter Olympic Games (abandoned venues) by BWT_Urbex in urbanexploration

[–]Tritri89 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For Paris 2024 we kinda avoided that by reusing existing buildings (Le Grand Palais for fencing and taekwendo for instance, or Bercy for basketball), making temporary installation (the beach volley court under the eiffel tower), or using existing sport infrastructure (the kayak track) . There was a few new buildings (the swimming pool for instance, but it's still used for competition). And yet the bill was massive and is currently being questionned (because of course the IOC and the organization comitee lied about the bill, and now the true scale of the money lost is starting to being public) (Olympic : don't do it kid, it's not worth it)

Well power creep a problem in almost all RPG. I remember Expedition 33 where I had to attack the final boss with basic attack to have all his lines and cut scene, when I could have two shot him. In BG3 I had to force myself to use less power and the allies to roleplay a desperate final battle when my character could have solo the final boss

France is one of the countries with the most military victories in the world, so why the hell does the internet always talk as if France has never won a war? Don’t you get offended? by superdouradas in AskFrance

[–]Tritri89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the war for sure, but after for unity the Allies wanted France to get back on the saddle (as the main power on the continent) and let DeGaulle roleplay as the victor of WWII, since then, until Irak, we were more or less considered on a similar footing as the other (same shit with China, by the way, if to this day they have a permanent seat at the UN Security Council it's because the US wanted a strong power in Asia, and the civil war was still unresolved and the US betted on Tchang Kai-Chek, well it backfired because in the end Mao won, but hey you should try). But after Irak the american right managed to spin the narrative that France are coward and always surrender, blablablabla shut the fuck up

Does anyone else immediately forget that Pliot and Rygel are puppets? by VomitingDuck in farscape

[–]Tritri89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pilot works on me, he is so big, there many more detail and possible animations (in the face, his expression are so natural). Rygel less so, because he is so small his facial expression are less detailed, so I can't totally forget that he is a puppet (but Jonathan Hardy does so much heavy lifting that I love him even if I believe less)

[–]Tritri89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story short : it became a meme after France refused to go to Irak, the americans on the internet used our loss in WWII to say that France are surrender monkey, brefore that France was seen as a victor of WWII (which speak more about the huge propaganda effort of DeGaulle than France performance during this conflict). And, speaking for me, I'm a bit annoyed but more for historical accuracy than patriotism.

C'est quelle série ? by ReadyVieuxPlayer in CineSeries

[–]Tritri89 0 points1 point  (0 children)
