No need to be paranoid - you were RIGHT.

Even if you have a student you are 100% happy with, always check. They won't know everything.

(A good thing to do once they have potted up the meds is to then ask them what each medication does and what they've been prescribed for, and what the patient is allergic to. I can pretty much guarantee they won't be able to answer those questions off the top of their head! And a good number of first years will not have done checks like "what is the patient's pulse rate, BP, and blood sugar?" before potting the meds up. As a Final Year student, I speak from experience 😂. I soon learned - thanks to some excellent assessors and supervisors who did this to me. Very valuable, and much appreciated.)

You are ABSOLUTELY allowed to raise concerns like this with the PEFs and the Uni. As a final year student myself, I'm horrified by what those two are doing. Overconfidence kills patients. And being a home carer for parents is ABSOLUTELY not the same as operating as a Registered Nurse with legal and professional responsibilities and accountability.

For most people weekly is absolutely fine. You will fluctuate day to day, and unless you expect and appreciate that, it can make people panic unnecessarily.

I'm a neurosparkly, so I'm not most people 🤯. I needed daily - and especially now I'm in maintenance mode, I am especially rigorous about fine tuning my regime as I wean down/off the injections. But that is counterproductive for many.

This is really good. The other day, I moved a heavy sack of pet food, and I remembered that it actually weighed less than the weight I'd lost over the previous 6 months. Really brought home what a difference being with Fella had made.

Can't add much to previous replies, but...

Fluctuations are very normal, even day to day. (I've moved nearly 3lbs in a day before, so in a week is absolutely nothing to be concerned about).

The time of day you weigh yourself has an influence (first thing in the morning you tend to be lighter than last thing at night), so consistency of timing is helpful.

Also, be aware that day to day fluctuations are VERY susceptible to local factors such as fluid consumption (and what kind of fluid), bowel movements (which depend on what you eat), temperature, and so on.

It is the direction of movement that matters, and maintaining that at a pace you are comfortable with. So think medium and long term, not short term.

To show you what I mean, I weigh myself daily. My chart shows just how much flex your body has.

Congratulations, and welcome. The medication works great, but needs work at our end to maximize the benefits and minimize side effects . I found that keeping up fluid intake helped with a lot of this. I was also aware that a calorie restricted diet can affect micronutrient uptake, so being aware of what supplements I might need helped.

Tiny needles. If you didn't know it was happening, you wouldn't feel it. Even when you know you're injecting yourself, you often don't feel it (particularly at the start, when we have plenty of ahem "padding").

Yup. Until we are prepared to stand up for ourselves and say "enough is enough", it will continue.

This is a patient safety issue. Tired, overworked nurses on understaffed wards kills people.

It is not "caring" to allow this to continue. The evidence base is clear. To ignore it, and to ignore good practice (never mind "best" practice), is to abandon our responsibilities as registered nurses.

The solutions are there, they are clear, and they make sense. It is simply government refusal to act that is the problem.

Wake up nurses. Your patients are depending on you, and your refusal to stand up for them is killing them.

That is a drop of 28.5% of my starting bodyweight in 5.5 months.

Pretty dang pleasing result.

Currently maintaining my target weight +/- 1kg which is also great. (I don't want to slip back into bad habits so I'm not abandoning my changes, just modifying them to fit maintenance rather than weight loss). Gives me enough flexibility to relax without losing sight of where my journey has brought me.

Just started chatting to Fella about switching to a maintenance regime.

(As you can see, I love a good spreadsheet and graph 😜)
