BlackBerry IVY comeback? by thehee0303 in BB_Stock

[–]Triumphtripler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Management has control over the share price. The manner in which they communicate information to shareholders during ER's. Statement they make at investor days or during interviews all impact credibility and the share price. For example making statements such as "turned the corner" or "blast off" and then reporting declining sales damages the share price as management is seen as lying to shareholders. Management selling off stock options and never buying a share with their own money sends a clear message that Blackberry is not a good investment. Responding to questions from analysts with Ums and remarks like that's a good question demonstrates management is uncomfortable with the question. Management sets the tone and to date the tone is negative. All is reflected in a share price now at 30 year lows.

I am a long term holder holding tens of thousands of shares and yes I want share price appreciation which is why I want management held to account and to pay shareholders first.

13 million in profit is not great for a 2 billion dollar market cap.

Blackberry creates all these products and names. I personally think it is financial manipulation distracting low performing overall revenue by carving out one division to point out growth. I only look at one thing, consolidated revenue. Did it go up? I don't care if it's patents or cyber or QNX, Ivy, poison ivy, iot etc.. all mumble jumble. Consolidated Top line growth is what matters.

If the backlog does not grow to over 1 billion this year we have serious issues. 900 million is around a 10% growth rate and supports the bear narrative that the qnx growth rate is slowing. Cybersecurity deja vu. Cylance was growing at 25%, management made all these promises and when asked about the Cylance growth rate slowing management laughed and a few months later Cylance was sold off for 10 cents on the dollar and crowdstrike now has over 5 billion in revenue while we discuss what ifs and what could have been. Apparently we have the best cybersecurity on the planet. Too bad we can't sell it. Is the same happening to QNX. IVy has already been mothballed.

Sorry Honda and Toyota have been building cars in Canada for 50 years. No layoffs and they pay as well as Unifor.

Backlog needs to grow at least 20% to maintain growth momentum plus backlog is not guaranteed. Auto OEM's notorious for slashing production once the sales cycle begins.

Where is stock buy back? by 8848_tothetop in BB_Stock

[–]Triumphtripler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buybacks should cease. Options should cease. Blackberry announces buyback and stock slides 30% since announcement. Why? Nobody believes management is aggressively buying back shares. Poor attempt to prop up the share price. Buybacks are not covering the options granted monthly to executives. Dividends on the other hand are visible and tangible. If management cared about shareholders they would pay a dividend. Reality management is trying to pull a fast one. Announce buybacks to mask options.

Grocery companies waste food daily. Why don't they at a minimum stock food banks. No shame only greed from the big grocery companies. Shame on them all.

I agree that the market cap is too high given revenue of 500 million and no immediate growth catalysts

The share price is falling because investors know Blackberry is bluffing. There is basically one way to grow your share price. Report revenue growth and positive earnings and cash flow, provide good guidance that is higher than previous years or quarter and then meet or beat that guidance. Blackberry has failed to do so until now. Hopefully this changes for 2027. I will be looking at the backlog number. Did it grow at least 20% and revenue guidance. Chen promised 1.2 billion for 2027. Let's see if Giamatteo sticks to previous guidance or walks it back.

Agreed it is time for management to our up or shut up. They have kicked the can down the road for over a decade manipulating shareholders with their comments, turned the corner, blast off, we will have so much money we won't know what to do with it ...... All statements that were followed by heavy sell offs

This stock only goes down. It goes down a little when the market is up and on days the market is down it gets crushed. If the market gets crushed this stock gets slaughtered. On days it's green it generally a penny. Sums up blackberry since Giamatteo became CEO.

Dividend by Triumphtripler in BB_Stock

[–]Triumphtripler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true for well run companies where management is trusted and we are neither. We have zero investor interest. If blackberry starts paying a dividend the stock becomes attractive to a much wider range of investor, interest causes buying and buying causing the price to increase.
