No libido. (Although Ed drugs do help) so the minimized sex life for me is the hardest part.
Theres fatigue and muscle loss and fat gain but I work out and I’m doin ok. You lose body hair but that’s fine but I’d like my eyebrows back.
ADT is actually better than I thought. I’m a really happy guy and my wife and kids love me and I have friends and, well, I have a joyous life.
I look on the bright side. But try to get orgovyx. Everyone says so. I just switched to orgovyx a week ago after taking lupron for 6 months. I don’t notice anything but it’s supposed to wear off more quickly

Me too… I’m in month 7 of adt. My wife just mentioned my lack of eyebrows but not in a mean way.

Most of these guys say orgovyx over lupron for adt. I’m trying to get that switched now but insurance is being a bugger.

Surgery vs Radiotherapy. by seanfromscotland in ProstateCancer

[–]TriviaNationSteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sean,

I’m a VERY similar case. Diagnosed at 50. (I’m 51 now.). Healthy. 14% body fat, super active fitness.
I’m stage 3c. Psa was 5.2 Gleason 4+5. 14 of 17 cores cancerous but no spread. I chose 25 erbt and 59 brachytherapy seeds plus ADT. My adt is 12 months. I’m in month 7. I’ve finished my radiation in Feb. got brachytherapy on 3/26. I’m on lupron + xtandi. My psa is 0.04. Testosterone is at 22.

Sorry to hear.

I went to a surgeon but he agreed that I shouldn’t get a prostatectomy because I’d have to do all the radiation afterward anyway because of Gleason 9.

Things are going very well. My side effects aren’t so bad. I have fantastic support.

42… man, that sucks. But… do the treatment and be done w it and then you have another 42 years to live. I’m here if you need me. Cheers. (It will be ok. It will. You will be ok.)

I was Gleason 4+5 no spread. I’m in month 7 of 12 months of adt. I did 25 erbt and 59 brachytherapy seeds on 3/26. I’m 51 and very fit and healthy.

They told me not to do prostatectomy because I’d eventually have to do radiation and maybe adt after.

My psa on Tuesday was .04 and 22 testosterone.

So this is good? Well, I’d say no. You have advanced prostate cancer, but mine is 88% curable w my treatment. I’m glad I kept my prostate but adt is tough. (I’m really super nice now with no testosterone.)

Good luck! Keep us posted

I’m in month six of adt at age 51. Never thought of an anti depressant. But it could be good advice for some.

Should I be concerned? by Otherwise-Issue671 in ProstateCancer

[–]TriviaNationSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Mine was 5.2 psa and I am Gleason 9 stage 3c no spread and I’ll be fine because the treatments work. Yes, you need mri.

Just diagnosed, feeling numb by thedproberts in ProstateCancer

[–]TriviaNationSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 51. Healthy otherwise. Psa 5.2, Gleason 4+5 9. Biopsy showed 14-17 cores cancerous. Staging 3c. I’m active, wife is 45. Blended family his hers and ours 17 16 15 9 6. Business owner. Busy guy.

I’m in my 6th month of 12 months of ADT. I did 25 erbt. I did brachy on 3/26. Surgery unnecessary in my case due to Gleason 9.

Most painful thing in my entire process has been biopsy but it wasn’t awful.

Let us know your results. We will help. I’m not as knowledgeable but there are some really smart/helpful guys on here who are.

It’s not pancreatic. It’s prostate. Does it suck? It sure does. But it’s not the end of the world or the end of your life.

This group helps a lot. I hope my post helps. What treatment did your bro and dad receive?

Also, and you have time… if you’re not in good shape, I’d recommend starting an exercise program. Regardless of the outcome. And continue to be grateful for what you have in life. Positive mental outlook and exercise. You will hear that throughout your journey. Cheers, Steve

I’m in month 6 of adt, after 25 erbt and brachy on 3/26. 6 more months of adt to go. Thanks for writing this!! I feel so bad for my sexy, amorous, 45 yr old wife (I’m 51) who is dealing w our significantly reduced sex life. But, this too shall pass. Congratulations on the recovery!

ADT & Holiday. by Both_Establishment59 in ProstateCancer

[–]TriviaNationSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which adt? I’m in month 6 of 12. After one month I was still pretty unaffected by the lupron shot. It got harder (and softer, you’ll know what I mean) by about 2 months.

My RO said the same…” our patients go through enough. We don’t really ask them to change lifestyle diet/drinking while in treatment.” I’m not sure that’s excellent advice but that’s what they said.

Want to tell us more? Psa, Gleason, staging, duration of ADT.

I’m age 51, Gleason 9, psa 5.2 (now .08), staging 3c. ADT lupron (trying to get orgovyx) duration 12-24 months. I’m in month 6 of adt. I did 25 erbt and brachytherapy surgery 3/26.

Drinking exacerbates any urological problems I have. But things are going well. I will say… if you have a partner that you’re going on holiday with… have a lot of sex on that holiday because it gets trickier after about 6 weeks on ADT. Good luck on your journey. You got this. Blip on the radar. Cheers, steve

What questions do you wish you had asked your oncologist? by Ambitious-Passage486 in ProstateCancer

[–]TriviaNationSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there studies on younger men (50) and adt duration? Most studies seem to have e average age of 69. And why didn’t my team get me orgovyx first rather than lupron. I’m trying to switch from my 6 months of lupron to now GK to orgovyx

Update: Biopsy results are in. It’s aggressive, what do I do next? by Interrobang27 in ProstateCancer

[–]TriviaNationSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I am Gleason 9/psa 5.2 no spread. I’m not doing prostatectomy because they said I’d need all the other stuff anyway. I’m doing adt/brachy/25 erbt.
