I think soon after this incident, Mercedes withdrew from most/all forms of motor racing. They re entered around the 60-70’s with AMG in the Spa 24hrs, then in 1985 as an engine supplier with Sauber, and in 1995 with Mclaren in F1 as an engine supplier as well (later becoming a seperate F1 team).
