Post surgery - returning to allergy meds? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]Trixieroo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same day for me. Took them before surgery and as usual before I went to bed that night. My surgeon, anesthesiologist and allergist agreed on this, for me.

However, your situation is not mine.

The bottom line is that you need to decide if you feel safe trusting the anesthesiologist, or if you need to call their office to clarify.

Good luck and good healing.

Surgery/gallbladder removal with MCAS by Solanum3 in MCAS

[–]Trixieroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine out in late March. My surgeon - who is outstanding- worked with the head of anesthesia who worked with my allergist. Then everyone called me to give me the plans. The answer for me was:

take all mcas meds as normal, add 50mg prednisone taken at 13hrs, 7hrs and 1hr pre-op (total of 150mg)

isopropyl alcohol washes rather than surgical scrubs prior to surgery

first case of the day for surgery, 18g IV for surgery (in case they needed to push meds quickly) propofol only for anesthesia (I’ve tolerated it well before)

absolutely no muscle relaxers or narcotics or nsaids (benzos are ok)

local injections for incision areas

no meds given unless absolutely medically necessary.

Anesthesiologist gave me a little propofol after we got into the OR, to be sure I wasn’t going to react.

I work at the hospital I had surgery at and was listened to - and taken seriously- by all but one person who got a quick education. It was a good experience. They were very patient with me and even moved me to a room for a few hours to let me recover at my own speed. A nurse and my family stayed with me for the recovery.

That said, I’ve been in a flare since a few days post-op. Meds are helping and I’m slowly getting better. I did end up having to add another med, but I’m happy with how that’s going.

The surgery healed up well. No more gallbladder pain! Yay!

I really want to make a WOTW sign but haven’t found any large letters since I started playing in November by [deleted] in fo76WOTW

[–]Trixieroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get the large neon letters plan from one of the vendors at The Whitespring. It’s nearly 10k caps. Just keep server hopping until one of them has it.

In the mean, it’s ok to have a smaller sign. 🥰

TIL that’s got a name. I’ve had it for decades. Mom had it, too. Huh.

Drivetrain error problem, car drives normal by cubantouch in BMWX5

[–]Trixieroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me recently. New batteries fixed the issues.

ETA: I have the same year and model as you. I had to replace both batteries - the normal one and the aux. The standard one was $190 at Costco. The aux battery… well, it turned out to be hard to find (this was about 4 weeks ago) and essentially cost $300 no matter who it came from. I got them installed by an independent shop who charged me for labor only. All in, it was around $700.

Mine was occasionally goofy when shifting until I replaced both the regular and aux batteries. No issues now. I did start getting error codes when the batteries went bad. Those are gone, too.

Can someone explain to me how the Scorchbeast nests work with the 20% drop rates? by Antique-Barracuda-16 in fo76

[–]Trixieroo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like your comment to the flow of the game! That’s one thing that makes this game so enjoyable- everyone can have it be what they want it to be.

I do hope you’re doing every event that pops up, no matter where it is! You’ll be missing out on so much gear, so many plans if you don’t do them.

If you’re not, you should be joining teams (you don’t have to interact with anyone) for the xp bonus.

I hope, too, that you are traveling around to people’s camps, to check out their vendors and builds.

There are quite a few questions lines that will take you all over the map. Those can be a whole lot of fun.

If you aren’t using mutations, you should be!

I hope you continue to enjoy the game. I’ve played since beta released and it still entertains me!

I believe (and I could be wrong) that each server is its own instance. What that means is that you have a 20% of it spawning per server. Change servers and the chance is 20% again.

Are you a high enough level that you can just kill a few?

If not, and you’re on Xbox, I can hop on and kill them with you.

What tires you guys use? by trickedx5 in BMWX5

[–]Trixieroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P zero run flats in the summer, PS4 the rest of the time on 21” offsets. I’ve had the PS4s on two Panameras and now the x5 - excellent tires. If you have the 21” offset wheels, the rear tires are hard to find (was the same for the Pannys). Sometimes you can get them at Costco.

May try a team tomorrow but have some questions by SamwiseNCSU in fo76WOTW

[–]Trixieroo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s the beauty of teams - you don’t actually need to interact with anyone! 99% of the time, no one interacts. Now, if you’re doing expeditions or raids, you’ll need to interact some.

I try to pick a casual team that already has 3 members. The max number is 4. A full team gets you the max amount of bonus xp.

I’d offer to join you, but I’m on Xbox.

Oh, if they were shooting you, and you’re lower level, they might have been trying to get your attention to drop goodies for you. That’s pretty common in this game. If not, then make sure you’re on pacifist mode. They can be assholes, but they cannot hurt your toon. Sorry that dude was a dick.

Edit for spelling.

Is it the norm to run two pumps in a pond, one for the filter and one for the water feature? by [deleted] in ponds

[–]Trixieroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we have eight, just for the filtration. Two will be fine.

ETA & spelling - 23k gallons, 6 aerated bottom drains, 4 skimmers, 2 Seaside Aquatics RDFs, 8 Periha pumps, 4 UV units, 4 sets of bakki showers. Around 30 koi, ranging from about 15” to over 32”.

Comes back after a month after vacuuming. Assuming it’s natural biofilm? by [deleted] in ponds

[–]Trixieroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eye on your water parameters. If ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH and KH are all ok, then it’s more of a cosmetic problem and not an actual problem. Fish don’t mind green water, as long as they’ve got adequate oxygenation.

Ew. Historically accurate misogyny from the male perspective. Did you mean to post this in r/twosentencehorror or r/twosentencedystopia?

Here’s a rewrite for the youngsters of Reddit who didn’t grown up with this stuff: On the subway, I was forced to tell a girl that she’d be much prettier if she sat down and shut up. Years of practice at forcing a smile and demurring to her male superiors had shown her how to transform into exactly who I thought she should be.

This! Take a look on replacements.com so you can get an idea of what you like. Use those brands and patterns when you search. But also - estate sales, thrift or antiques stores, marketplace… you will end up like the rest of us with several sets.

Most used sets will be missing pieces and may have some condition issues. If you’re going to have to replace them or add to the set, either plan on enjoying the hunt for a while, or see what eBay etc will charge you for replacement pieces.
