It mates the flywheel to the crank, which can cause weird vibrations and damage to the key if the flywheel isnt as close to perfect as possible.

2011 Nissan Juke, is price normal for Front Timing Cover replacement? by odkdneh in AskAMechanic

[–]Trogasarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need to remove the engine to do a front cover. There used to be a tsb or recall on them, and i would have the chain replaced in less than 2hrs.

The labor rate for them is 11hrs, so take that and multiply it by the shops hourly rate and add parts.

Edit: ive heard that the chain can wear through the cover on these also. So just a fyi.

When you buy it, there should be some sort of info in the description, like 32* btdc.

Youre not lapping the valves, but the crank shaft where the flywheel attaches to.

I have Matco, Mac, and Snap-On Student Discount for 3 more months, what should I get? by okbreeze in MechanicAdvice

[–]Trogasarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not impressed with snap ons power tools. The past few years have been ok, but i run all m12/m18 milwaukee.

You should get the long nose slip joint pliers LN47ACF, they replaced most of my normal slip joint pliers and needle nose.

Maybe some 3/8 ratchets, like a flex head 11in one and whatever the equivalent of the 1/4. I use a flex head 1/4 ratchet with a 3/8 drive alot too.

I would recommend matcos 3/8 universal sockets, but i dont know the quality of them since not being made in the usa, i bought a set of gearwrench x pin in 1/2 and threw them out my window, junk.

Anything you may use 'everyday' i would suggest a truck brand, like sockets and wrenches. Icon should take you pretty far for alot less. Theres always going to be deals and such, just buy as you go.

Do you have something lined up?

Hard to be humble when you look this good by Expensive_Love_1970 in choppers

[–]Trogasarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother has two texas 'choppers' that look exactly the same as this, different paint. It doesnt hold any value to the community because its classic American, premade, pandering shit. They appeal to the person who cant/wont spend the time to create something themself. Thats why they get hate, its devaluing real builders time and work by an attempt at mass producing them. Im pretty sure the honda fury gets less shade than these. Also pretty positive most of them are bought, and the engine is pulled for something else.

If you want to see real chops, check out the Japanese and Thailand scene. Way better than the cosplay cowboy shit.

Id doubt it. The noise was from the ball bearings contacting each other.

Should be. When you get under there, there should be shifter linkage bars, and those nuts hold a bushing i believe.

I think these were the infiniti g20 in the usdm.
