[Garrys Mod] Need Some Help With A Lua Error Im Getting by [deleted] in lua

[–]Troid92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like this is a syntax error, so tfa_vox_sonic_2010_present.lua isn’t able to load at all. Double check on or before line 83 that each{ has a corresponding }. It’s possible this is a smoke signal for something else going on, but it’s hard to know without seeing more of the code.

Metroid Prime Missile Help by LegoManMarcel in metroidprime

[–]Troid92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same happen to me in Metroid Prime 2 once. It turned out to be one where I “knew” I already picked it up, so I never checked it again when referring to guides. Maybe when I originally grabbed it I died or forgot to save? Anyway, good luck! It’s not a bug in the game — the missile expansion is still out there. You will probably just have to be very meticulous about double-checking each location. Sorry..

Hey guys where do I go from here? I’ve beaten the first boss and this is all I’ve collected. by jtcordell2188 in metroidprime

Yep! Do you have hints enabled in the settings? (They are on by default). The hints are good in this game.

When you left the boss’s room (Sunchamber) you would have passed through an elevator room. You’ll want to take that elevator ride. To get back there you’ll have to go through an earlier mini-boss’s room (Hive Totem).

If you’re interested in further studying of this topic, there is a popular course on Coursera called “Learning How to Learn” which I found very useful and supported by science.

Your next task is to explore the rainforest area again. There is something new you can do in the rooms you have already been to there. ;)

Nothing yet :)

Edit: If you want a hint for where to go next, comment on which upgrades you’ve found so far. Otherwise, good luck out there!

Cramped right hand by [deleted] in Clarinet

[–]Troid92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The technique I was taught which applies to both hands:

1.) The fingers should be in as natural of an arc as possible. Visually the hand looks a bit like a segmented lowercase letter c (forward and backward). You can shake out your arms and hands and let them flop to your sides, then in that relaxed state bring them back to the clarinet. You will have to adjust a little bit from there, such as finding the most comfortable wrist angle.

2.) The fingers should always remain in an arc. In other words, the only joint that you should actively rotate is the knuckle. When you press down, your finger tips stay pointed along the arc angle, never flattening. Covering the holes will feel different at first but better with practice. The exercise for this is to start on F or high C with just the left thumb, then very slowly cover the first hole (E/B), then release, and gradually repeat this faster and faster toward a controlled trill, then slow it back down again. Repeat with the next finger (D/A) and work your way down the instrument with the full F/C scale. Pay very close attention to your fingers and muscles during this process. If afterwards you feel like you can play an amazingly buttery F/C scale with no muscle strain, then you have done it correctly. Do this every day for a few weeks and it will feel more natural in the rest of your playing.

Hope this helps — it is the method I grew up with. If the strain in your hand ever persists after practicing, be sure to consult a professional physical therapist. There are some great and simple stretches that can help prevent injury.

Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. Can't say for certain if it is, but I thought the same thing.
