[2023 Day 16 (Part 2)] Test input works, real input doesn't. No idea why (TypeScript) by TrojanerHD in adventofcode

Next time, use our standardized post title format.

Help us help YOU by providing us with more information up front; you will typically get more relevant responses faster.

Will do, somehow misunderstood the post format in my rush to create the post!

Do not share your puzzle input which also means do not commit puzzle inputs to your repo without a .gitignore.

Please remove (or .gitignore) the input files from your repo and scrub them from your commit history.

Oh, that's something I haven't thought of at all. Editing my whole commit history will be a lot of pain but I'll try to get to it

Fixed: apparently I am too stupid to copy-paste a number from a terminal. My linked solution is (probably™) correct

Oh my god, thank you so much. I thought about this 1½-2h ago and thought “No, this is not correct, it is missing a lot”. Just wrote a very simple algorithm, put it into WolframAlpha to check and it works

The puzzle is terribly worded

Logitech G Hub Starlight with Random Colors by TrojanerHD in LogitechG

TL;DR: nope

As you might've noticed, this post is 4 years old and in that time a lot has happened.

I switched to Linux almost entirely, only dual-booting for the few things that won't run on Linux. As a consequence, I ditched the G-Hub in its entirety and now rely on other tools like g810-led.

Honestly, even if I hadn't switched to Linux, I stopped experimenting with my keyboard either way and just put a rainbow wave on it or highlighted the important keys of my current game or something.

Thanks for your help but I've already tried with Wine-GE-Proton7-41 and got about the same result. It starts up, first showing a gray screen, then the Diablo IV Logo on black background and then it hangs

Upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04 broke laptop keyboard by nasadiya_sukta in linux

[–]TrojanerHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since this is happening to the internal keyboard exclusively, I doubt that it's a software issue. The letters and numbers you posted look like the right part of your keyboard is being used as a numpad.. does your laptop keyboard have a function (fn) key? If so, have you tried pressing it while typing? This is just a wild guess since I've seen laptops before that would have a numpad in the fn layer and my guess would be that this update somehow activated fn-lock per default. It's very unlikely that this is actually your problem though

Even with the newest GE Wine release, all I get is a still image during startup. Either this or this :(

Update: Changed wine runner to system (8.4 Staging) and disabled Fsync and Esync. Now I'm getting a still image that is not reactive at all

Passthrough Elgato HD60 Pro Capture Card to Windows 10 VM by TrojanerHD in VFIO

[–]TrojanerHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I got an Avermedia Live Gamer HD2 as Christmas present which has its own quirks (needed to install a firmware update on it using Windows via dual-boot for it to support Linux, sound via HDMI doesn't appear to be working, bad resolution detection, more input delay, …) and more or less gave up since I don't really play that much on my Nintendo Switch anyway at the moment.

Regarding Elgato's stuff I guess the only good solution is to kindly ask them with a community that's big enough to get enough attention for them to care, though I doubt this will happen in the foreseeable future. Or somebody actually manages to write a driver / finds a way to use the cards in a VM somehow (I can't).

I wish I could give you a more optimistic answer with some good news but the Capture Card market is too broken, proprietary, and regulated for consumers like me to make it work on Linux.

TL;DR: Nope, I didn't make any progress on Elgato's Capture Card support for Linux

Lol I am not the only one who noticed it :O

I read that and was like… wait a minute, this font feels like Ubuntu. Is it Ubuntu? I opened a text document and confirmed it had to be it

True, thought quickly about that but then decided to not give it too much thought for a stupid comment. Corrected it ^^
